Anyone have a Nationwide UK card reader I can use?

My Card reader has become faulty unfortunately the displays broken have tried changing batterys and repairing to no avail.

I need to use a reader to login to my Internet banking to transfer some money into another bank account. I'm happy to meet the person somewhere convenient for them - I'll bring my Laptop and Mobile Phone for Internet tethering along with me.

I had this problem a couple of months ago.

It seems that the readers are interchangeable and I used my Royal Bank of Scotland reader to transfer money from my Nationwide account.

Only worth knowing if you have another bank account with a reader.

They're a pain, I log in using 'memorable data', I'm sure you can set it up.

I agree that they are bothersome, I too log in with "memorable data" and do some transactions.

Unfortunately, when you need to do transactions to another bank, change personal details and various other things, then they want it confirming by using the card reader.

Have you tried gently cleaning the chip on the actual card with a soft cloth? A while back I thought I had a problem with my reader. All I got was error messages.

In the end it turned out to be the card, not the reader, and it wasn't an old card either.

It's the display that's actually broken it responds to prompts but all I get is grey smudges. I've taken it apart and had a good look.

I showed it to a local repair shop and they agreed with me the display is faulty and cannot be repaired.

Met up with Nigel and he's kindly given me a Reader as promised - back in action smile.png

However it's a lesson learnt for me - will be carrying at least 2 Card Readers in the future.

I'm glad a forum like Thaivisa exists it's great for support amongst the expat/traveller community, sure got me out of a pickle.
