KhunBENQ
"piblics" system ? Somewhat "funny": a directive had been issued to stop him fleeing the kingdom. Isn't this a license for overstay? Absolutely stunning when you google for "Andrew Ronald Mathews". A criminal record going back years. Already been imprisoned in Thailand. A word of wars and lawyers with prominent names involved (Andrew Drummond). A here unwanted source calls him a "keyboard warrior". Seems like he has defamed/abused Thai persons on the internet. Silly to read this report like they "just found out".

Alive
Seems like there is a lot of opportunity for Thais to crack down on foreigners in Pattaya and other areas. They should ask for criminal background checks from the foreigners home nation before giving retirement and long term stay visas. They could get rid of many people early. They also should investigate who owns the bars in Pattaya and if they are a foreigner if they really are complying with the law in terms of employees and ownership rules etc. Old folks who are sucking off of the Thai government health care should be sent back home to be taken care of or die. Thais shouldn't have to pay for abusers. And that monthly money coming into Thailand for retirement visas should be checked much more thoroughly as well as claims by some of having the hundreds of thousands of baht in their bank account. And on the other end all the Thai over-stayers in other nations should be immediately deported to be fair.

Brain dead springs to mind. Idiots like him make things more difficult for all farangs. Kick him out blacklist him. He was on overstay because he was not allowed to leave, so his passport would be in the court, and he unable to renew his visa or extensions. There is no mention in what court cases he was involved, but I'm sure you have also read on this forum about people who are not allowed to leave because the landlord has started a court case. Alan81
You are wrong about him not being able to get a visa.He cant leave the country without permission from the courts but he can get his passport back from the court. And he can also be kept on given 30 day extensions from immigration while he is waiting for his case. All he has to do is go to the court be given paperwork from the court about his case the dates have it signed by judge only takes a few hours then bring the paperwork down to immigration they will give you visa 30 days each time until case is finished. Nothing fishy at all, the probability is that the majority of his 587 day overstay happened a long time before he was banned from leaving.

All they really have to do is Google their names...these criminals don't start their careers when they get to Thailand...they've usually left a trail of wreckage and press clippings in their home countries. bkkcanuck8
a directive had been issued to stop him fleeing the kingdom. Isn't this a license for overstay? If he is facing charges in front of the court then they would keep him in the country. I don't know why he would be able to flee the country though, I would have expected him to be detained in either the immigration detention centre or held without bail until the court appearances were held (if at all possible on his dime) then once the court cases are complete -- and potentially he served his time -- then he would be deported permanently (permanent criminal blacklist). They then found outstanding warrants and overstay.... he should be held though in that case.
Chowna
If you google his name it says he was locked up in prison for 100 days in March 2016 so they know he was here and having no visa,I think he has upset a few people and some people have greased some hands so with his previous criminal record in Thailand,he is out for good. klauskunkel
a directive had been issued to stop him fleeing the kingdom. That's interesting, the government has a directive in place to stop "fugitivism", it seems though the directive not always works as advertised - I suppose it gets redirected by the directive's director in some cases . The only way to 'pick out' overstayers is to check their visa status in their passport. I imagine most people you see on your walk in around Pattaya daily, probably have a legit visa, or other legal permission to stay from the immigration department.
