Bloodshed in Kabul as ISIL murder scores of minority Hazara

As many as 80 people have been killed and around 230 injured in a suicide bomb attack in the Afghan capital Kabul.

ISIL have claimed responsibilty for the assault on a Shi’ite Hazara protest march.

The minority Hazara are of Mongolian and Central Asian Origin.

They were demanding access to a new electricity power line:“We heard a loud, terrible explosion and everyone was covered in blood,” said one marcher.

Another said they were warned about the possibility of carnage:“Today we came out asking for justice in a peaceful manner, the government warned us we would be killed if we did and today we have been killed.”

The Afghan government confirmed they feared a terrorist attack on the march.

The protesters want the new power line to pass through their impoverished Hazarajat province.

ISIS doesn't seem to leave much good wherever it goes.

The Afghan people have suffered enough.

I remember from hippie trail days (1972) taking a train from Istanbul to Munich. A constant companion in the compartment was a neatly dressed Hazara man. When the people's border guards for Bulgaria decided that all the folding stuff I had was the transit visa fee, I was stuffed for food and drink for the almost 3 day journey. This kind man bought me some food. When we got to Munich, I had to cash a travellers cheque. I invited him to have breakfast on me. By the time I returned from the bureau de change, he had departed. I always have had high regard for the poor put upon Hazara since.
