July 26, 20169 yr "Over 100,000 policemen will be deployed across the country to ensure peace and order on August 7" and on other days they do what exactly? Busting your balls in road side check points probably
July 26, 20169 yr WOW. So the junta really want a peaceful referendum day with no violence being witnessed. They really want to see the referendum completed. They must want to not have it fail and then having to have another referendum. Whenever elections or referendums need to be held in Thailand and there are threats of violence the holder of the election or referendum (if they really really wanted it to go ahead successfully) should have strong security at each polling booth. What a novel idea. Strength of security in line with potential threats. Lets hope Jatuporn has some valium that day.
July 26, 20169 yr And that's only the police. What about the Army? How many soldiers will be manning polling booths in full combat gear and carrying automatic weapons? Will military personnel have the freedom to make their own choice when it comes to voting or will the the Supreme Commander be issuing orders which must be obeyed? Ever heard of proxy voting?
