I had been living and working in Bangkok with my Thai wifw and 3 year old son.

While I was still working in Thailand we applied for a visit visa to the UK. I collected all relevant documents and organised everything myself, without using agents or lawyers. She obtained her visa and we had a 10 day holiday staying with my parents. My parents sponsored the visa application.

Since then, we have decided to move to the UK. So I have been back in the UK alone looking for work to meet the financial requirements for my wife to come over on a 30 month Spouse visa, around April 2017.

I would also like her to come to the UK for a 1 month holiday this Christmas, again being sponsored by my parents. However I am worried about one aspect of our situation. After the holiday last year I went back with her as I was working in Bangkok, but this time I am in the UK and worried that Immigration will wonder how she will support herself when she goes back to Thailand. She will be staying at her parents place in Trat.

Can anyone adbise me as to whether I should deal with this application myself or hire an agent/lawyer?

There's really no reason why her visa application shouldn't succeeded for her holiday over the Christmas period and there's no reason why she couldn't do it herself, using an agent or lawyer wouldn't add anything.

She will of course need to satisfy the ECO that she can support herself, she will need to provide evidence to support her ability to do so, housing, employment or funds from you.

I would be outlining your plans for future, particularly your current employment and indicate that you're both aware that she will need to return to Thailand to submit her application for settlement.
