Brexit migrant 'spike' warning from MPs

LONDON: -- There could be a spike in UK migration ahead of Britain's withdrawal from the European Union and the possible end to free movement rights, MPs have warned.

The Home Affairs Committee urged the government to state an "effective cut-off date" for when EU citizens in the UK would be granted the right to stay.

It added there could be fresh delays and backlogs in the immigration system if more people tried to enter the UK.

OK do it the easy way, just deport all people form EU countries and then all EU countries deport all people from UK...

Official numbers are 300,000 in Spain but it's estimated to be up to 700,000 UK citizens living there. And UK should also be forced to leave Gibraltar to Spain as 95% of the population there voted to stay in EU...

And Norther Ireland should be given the opportunity to vote if they want to stay in UK or become a part of Ireland instead as a majority voted to stay in EU...

It's not rocket science. The UK has said that all migrants in the UK can stay after Brexit so there will be a massive increase until the cut-off point. It will all come down to whether the UK can get a free trade deal without the free movement of people, which is unlikely. HOWEVER with everything that is happening in France and Germany at the moment I would say that all bets are off.

No point in trying to second guess the outcome here as it will take years to come to fruition.

Theresa May was the Home Secretary and oversaw the UK immigration which Cameron promised to bring to under 100,000 a year and as we all know it failed and figures stated 250-300,000 per year . In a recent speech in Germany as the new PM she stated that she hopes to control the UK immigration to the 10s of thousand per year . Many Brexit voters will have been shocked to hear that as it was assumed that the door would be shut . So nothing is going to change imo .

I would liked to have heard something like this ,

The door is shut We are seeking advice from Australia for a new immigration policy . For those immigrants currently living in the UK who are not making a contribution to society and / or on benefits should be offered repatriation with financial encouragement .

All citizens of the UK to be issued with I.D. cards .

Any immigrant breaking the UK laws where the penalty would normally be a jail sentence is deported and serve their sentence in their country of origin .

The whole of Europe migration problem will not go away and there will be an uprising from the citizens

And hopefully Thailand will offer the same opportunity for the whining english to leave too.

The date named should be the day article 50 is executed.  Up until then the UK has not made any legal move to withdraw from the UK so anyone before that date should be grandfathered, anyone after that date would be considered temporary 'til the date of exit.
