Jungceylon is hoping to re-open the closed areas on Monday (July 31).

PHUKET: The final inspection of the repaired pillars in the underground section of the Jungceylon shopping mall in Patong scheduled to be led by Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada today (July 28) has been postponed until Monday (July 31).

The Port open-air zone and the underground market called That’s Siam were closed off on June 8 after several structural pillars showed signs of crumbling. (See story here.)

The formal inspection is required before officials can grant approval to re-open the areas that have been closed off for more than a month.

I wonder which engineer will be brave enough to sign the repair certification ...

Don't you mean, "I wonder which engineer will be greedy enough to sign the repair certification."

Easy to find an engineer to repair and certify the job done. But almost impossible to find one qualified and experienced to identify the cause of the fault.

Correct. But at least they're pretty sure about the structural defects or the design.

“We have not been able to conclude what caused the damage, we’re but pretty sure that it had nothing to do with structural defects or the design. I don’t think the damage was caused by rainwater either,” he added.

What use is it for the governor to inspect it. Surely he should be requesting certification from a qualified engineer and keeping his nose out of it. What purpose other than an opportunity for a photo shoot.

Well it didn't look like a structural defect, did it? coffee1.gif

Designed by thI, for thai, not for fat farang. Perso ally, I'd be avoiding the place, at least until centre management move their office to "That's Siam" area.

How the hell can you repair something properly if you don't know the cause?!

Stay away people!

Its just another example of treating the symptoms and not the disease.facepalm.gif

Ah Hem, perhaps I think more than just a photo shoot an opportunity for a little something extra.

Also the delay is just an extended period of negotiation for interested parties.
