Boy caught tearing up voter list wants transfer to different school

BANGKOK: -- The parents of the 9-year old schoolboy who was caught for tearing up a referendum voter list in Pone Sai district of Roi-et have asked for the kid’s transfer to study in another school in Ubon Ratchathani province.

It was reported that the parents met with the boy’s Prathom 3 teacher at Pone Sai school to inform him that they wanted their child to be transferred to a school in Ubon Ratchathani where his father has a house.

The boy whose name was withheld by the police because he is a minor has been absent from school since his arrest by the police on July 25.

The boy admitted that he tore up the voter list at No 7 polling unit in Village 9 of Ban Laem Sai Thong on the night of July 23. Someone saw the incident and reported it to the local police.

Accompanied by his parents, he was summoned to the police for questioning during which he admitted of tearing up the list. However, police decided to drop charges against him because, under the law, a minor who committed an offence will be exempted from punishment.

Did he even know what he was tearing up? A 9 year old would have limited to no understanding of the intricacies of the charter let alone any ramifications of what a yes or no vote would result in.

Ask him why he did it? But no one will report that in the news because it does not suit the agenda.

Give him Pokemon Go. He will forget that he even tore up the list in 2 days.

It didn't stop the shit being flung by your heroes at two 8 year old girls last week!!

Prayuth COULD have nipped that in the bud right away, and simply said kids will be kids......he didn't.

When the EC pressed for them to be charged, did he turn around and tell them "stop being idiotic, the press are having a filed day" ?.........no he didn't

Section 44 is only (ab)used when it's to HIS advantage.

Troll somewhere else.

I asked my wife this afternoon about the "vote" despite the news, and the internet, she didn't seem to know much, she also said normally there's flyers and notices on the village hall noticeboard, and there isn't a thing, I looked myself, there's been no meetings by the Pu Yai in the month I've been home either, no visits by anyone of importance, how many other small rural villages are oblivious too?

This is all about Bangkok, it always has been, it always will be.

Send him to "reform" school!

post-209291-0-57842500-1469795552_thumb.

The big-hearted coppers decided to drop charges against him because, "...under the law, a minor who committed an offence will be exempted from punishment...". One hopes for their sake they cleared this with their superiors!

All jokes aside, what is not being reported in these farcical "ripping" yarns (involving children and monkeys) is that If this boy was just one year older he could have be charged with the crime and sentenced to a detention centre - the minimum age of criminal responsibility in Thailand is just 10 years of age (lower than the internationally accepted minimum age of 12 years old).

The law is quite clear in respect to a 9 year old. Familiarize yourself with the law before offering a nonsensical statement.

Whatever the child's reason(s) for doing this, it is none of your business nor is it it anyone else's outside of the parents and child protection authority. The law makes it very clear that it is illegal to do what you demand. This isn't about anyone's agenda, except yours. You persist in claiming there are secret conspiracies waging battle against the unpopular military regime. You now extend your conspiracy nonsense to a 9 year old.

Wife's from BKK or she lives there? I am assuming that as you speak of villages that at some point she was from there too and just as ignorant as those who are still there. Not their fault though it works in the elites favour to keep the populace dumbed down, ill informed, close to poverty, brainwashed and with no real opportunities for a good education or employment. That way you can keep the power where you want it and keep the machine turning. Much like arresting and punishing 8 and 9 year old children for ripping up bits of paper so that they understand nice and early not to <deleted> with the system that controls them. Lovely that innnit? Ignorance is bliss. Edited by starky

This has more to do with the family of the boy than the boy himself. The parents probably can't bring themselves to be shamed in front of all the others at the school so asked for a transfer. Imagine if it was your kid. Having to apologise to other parents over such a riddiculous matter. "Sorry everyone, my son is so sorry for tearing up this paper" poor family, names blackened by a law that even children are included in.

A nation in disbelief. A generation of children growing up in fear of its government.

Sorry, no Pokemon Go.

Thai authorities are seeking to ban it because it endangers users.

Maybe best for Prayut to invoke Article 44 to ban anyone under the age of 17.

Here's a thought. Rip up a voting list and wait the minute and a half it will take for the entire provincial constabulary plus their overseers from Bangkok to come roaring up. Then tell them "Great! Now I have finally got your attention, is there any chance you can find the son of a bitch who stole my car...?"

Although the child is not criminally liable a 9 year old child should have been taught by his parents to respect other people's property. He also should have been adequately supervised so this should never have happened.

Surely you jest. You know we're talking about a piece of paper right? Maybe you could don a brown shirt and start a junta falang faction bit like Hitler youth back in the day. Sure you could find a few on here that would love to sign up. Put a picture of Mr. P in your lounge room it would be awesome.

No I do not jest. I would not have allowed my child in Australia to tear posters down from a wall or a bundle of papers hung in the library. Why should that be appropriate here.

No she only lives there! we moved south out from BKK (semi retirement thing) a city girl though and though! although she likes gardening thank god.

As i said she is indifferent to it as it involves Mr P so must be bad! the rest of the village is pretty much in the dark about the whole thing as far as i can see.

Or perhaps you could wear your Red Brigade Anarchists are good T-shirt? Ridiculous - certainly but no more than your overblown silly comment about Nazis. Presumably you feel it's o k for children to do anything they want? Next you'll be complaining about all those unruly Thai teenagers fighting and complaining about the lack of parental discipline when they were young. But you real purpose is any chance to slag of the government of course.

If children in any country tore up sensitive public notices they'd be in trouble. So might the officials who allowed such paperwork to be so easily accessible.

Amazed how many posters who normally moan on about the lack of discipline with children, lack of parental responsibility, how it all leads to immature entitled teens battling it out etc etc happily turn 360 degrees for a chance to bash the government. Amazed but not surprised.

Does she usually vote for politicians based on the gap between their eyes? Or if the look kind? Or whoever someone else tells her too?
