wheelchair accessible hotel/accommodation

Featured Replies

Sawadee khrup everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me: I need wheelchair accessible accommodation for about 1 week in Chiang Mai.  Can anyone recommend anywhere?

I've travelled a lot in Asia so I'm used to difficult circumstances but an accessible shower room is essential; It's really all about having a shower with no steps.

Looking forward to your responses,

I'd suggest checking with Le Meridien.  The public areas are very, very good.  I'm trying to remember the room layout and I'm drawing a blank.  I know the locker room showers for the fitness center have totally accessible showers, as do the showers in the spa area, but I haven't been in a guest room for a long time.

One reason the Australian Embassy has moved their periodic Chiang Mai outreach visits here to Le Meridien is because of problems with handicap accessibility for Australian nationals when they held their sessions at other hotels.

Hi Jason,

This is John from the Pun Pun guest House.   To start things off, I too am in a wheelchair and have been for years.  I have a guest room that is accessible to wheelchair.  Has like a 2 inch hop into the entry door.  The room has its own hot water shower, toilet with A/C optional.  We have an onsite restaurant that is also accessible.  Our hours are 7AM to 8 PM.  We are located on the river..    Rates are very reasonable.  450 baht per nite  with A/C & 395 b/p/n w/o a/c [fan only].  Tuk tuk transport is available to/from the GH.  Of course it does not mean much to you or I, but to guests, who can, we are about a 20 minute walk to Thaepae Gate.  I'll try and attach a map to this PM.  If you think it sounds like it would work, get back to me .   [email protected]   .... email may be better.   Its the only room with  A/C  so if you think its possible get back as soon as possible.

John

Just near the bus station there is a small hotel Pannya House which is about 400 baht a nigh airconditioned.  It has two completely accessible rooms with accessible to western standards toilet and shower....rollin.  Look on google street view for the hotel in Thung Hotel 5 Alley near the bus station.  he place has a sign giving contact details there.

Thanks guys, this is really valuable information to disabled people.  I went with the Royal Panerai Hotel in the end, hopefully it'll not disappoint...
