Hello,

My partner has just been granted a 33-month settlement Visa, arrived in the UK and received her Residence Permit [up to 4/2019].

However, she would like to take a short trip to Netherlands and then onto Switzerland in the space of, say, a week. She has a Thai Passport only.

Question: Does she need to firstly attend the Thai Embassy in London in order to get Visas for these 2 countries?

All comments welcome.

Thank-you.

No, the Thai Embassy issues visas for Thailand, not Schengen.

The Netherlands and Switzerland both require a Schengen Visa, but one visa will cover both countries.

She should apply at the Consulate that has jurisdiction for her main destination, IE where she is spending longest. If she is spending an equal time in both destinations, she should apply at the Consulate with jurisdiction for her point of entry into the Schengen Area.

As she is legally resident in the UK she is allowed to apply in the UK and not Thailand.
