Ministry of Tourism sees more visitors from Russia, Kasakhstan; optimistic for Mothers Day spending

  

BANGKOK, 10 August 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has projected 20 billion baht will circulate during the upcoming Mothers Day holiday and pointed out Russian and Kazakhstani visitors are showing an uptrend.

Thai authorities say the move would help catch foreigners who commit crimes or overstay their visa

 

Thailand announced plans Tuesday that would require foreigners visiting the popular Southeast Asian country to have location-tracking SIM cards in theirphones so authorities can easily monitor their whereabouts.

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: -- The Department of Provincial Administration today ordered abrupt transfer of two district chief officers in Nakhon Si Thammarat province to inactive positions after a video clip showing an upset village headman bowing down with his head on the floor inquiring them about alleged demanding kickbacks from getting a Pracharat state project.

NHRC to ask city governor to stop evicting remaining Mahakarn fort’s residents

BANGKOK: -- A proposal by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to track tourists’ location with a new kind of SIM card is still being mulled over as they seek the counsel of tourism authorities, tour agents and police.

Thai government threatens to ban Pokemon Go

Thailand’s telecoms regulator, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) on Wednesday said it will ban Pokemon Go outright if ‘sensitive’ locations are not removed from the game.

 

The NBTC issued the warning after officials called for special zoning areas to be introduced that would prevent locations such as hospitals, military bases, government offices and other areas of national security from featuring in the game.

Oh man! Thailand expecting to welcome influx of tourists from Oman

Thailand has recently alienated their Chinese tourists after trashing them on social media, and if this story holds any weight, they may be losing others as well. However, in between bouts of trying to lure rich Germans back to the land of smiles, the latest news from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is that Thailand can expect a 20 percent increase in tourists coming to Thailand from the Arabian Peninsula country of Oman, which is situated next to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
