Bike fall, broken knee, 1 week wheelchair rental request

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I took a spill of the motorbike on some gravel on the side of the road.

I am sitting in the hospital now for some days, waiting for swelling to go down so I can get surgery. Everyone is quoting me about 200k bhat.

If you think there is a cheaper option, please let me know.

To save cost, I will go home while I wait for the swelling to go down. To do this though, I need a wheelchair and so far have not found a place to rent them.

If anyone has, or knows of a wheelchair I can rent for about a week (estimated time until surgery) please let me know. I will try to get out of the hospital tomorrow.

Thank you

Go on Lazada site, you can buy a cheapo for 2900 baht.

They are basic but ok, i bought 1 to use as a spare if/when i get problems with my other chair.

Broken knee?  An incomplete diagnosis, IMO.  What's broken?  200K baht for a surgical repair to fix the break, and not that price for wheelchair, i'm pretty sure.

For the chair, try the med shops along Doi Suthep road, just beyond the Suan Dok hospital.  Lots of shops with med supplies and equipment .

don't go to a retail pharmacy... go to a large medical supply business. there are a dozen or more in C.M.

after they quote you a price, counter-offer 50 Satang on the Baht, start the negotiations from there. they mark up in the hundreds of percent...

One week rental?  200,000 Baht?  You can buy 40 of them for that.

Hmm.  Me thinks a lurker.

Sorry, 200k is the price for surgery not for the chair.

Since I haven't gotten any offers for a loan or rent I will buy one tomorrow, probably via Lazada. As I won't need it for long, does anyone know a good place to donate it when I'm done? I'm sure there are some places in need.

Sawasdee Khrup, Khun Sam86,

Sorry to hear about your accident !  I do have a walker I can loan you, if you like. Just send me a private message. The walker is sturdy enough for a large western male.

The price you were quoted sounds more like a price for a knee replacement, and I hope, for your sake, you get the details of the procedure to be done, and any "parts" to be installed in you.

cheers,  ~o:37;
