Flight prices out of Thailand right now -- high?

Just looking at flights from BKK to Vancouver.

They look to be around twice what I paid for my flight the opposite direction a few months ago.

Is this a seasonal price change?

Looks like.

I guess you are looking on a near date range (this month)?

I did one search for next week (two week duration): about 44k (Baht) with the cheapest Chinese.

Search in September: cheapest Chinese for about 25k.

Even a top airline like Cathay for under 40k.

End of holiday season in North America, Europe, tourists going back, well booked?

R/T slights ex-BKK are often more expensive, demand/supply.

There are seasons: peak, high, shoulder, low. Seasons are determined by either/both origination/destination, and a fare can straddle multiple seasons.

Impossible to compare BKK-nnn-BKK,with nnn-BKK-nnn unless you own a time-machine.

M-Th less expensive than F-Su.

inventory is managed by sophisticated algorithms which can make millions of calculations and changes in a minute.

I assumed that the OP is aware about the asymmetry of prices (to / from BKK) in general.

But as demonstrated in the examples there is a high price level currently compared to a month ahead.

It is cheaper, at times, to fly from the US to here.  I've done tests and found it to be quite a bit cheaper.  Especially to LA with Cathay.

Might be best to use one of the search engines that shows you the fares for an entire month.  One day to the next can have a dramatically different price!
