Thaksin files defamation complaint against Rangsit University rector

Fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has filed a defamation complaint with the technology crime suppression division against the rector of Rangsit University, Dr Arthit Urairat, on Wednesday.

Acting on behalf of Thaksin, former Pheu Thai MP Khattiya Sawatdiphol, told the media that she was authorized by the former prime minister to lodge a complaint against Dr Arthit and a few netizens for accusing Thaksin through Facebook of being involved in the recent spate of arson and bomb attacks in seven southern provinces last week.

She said that the violent incidents were an act of cruelty against the Thai society that should not recur. She defended that Thaksin thought likewise and had no intention whatsoever to hurt or to cause any damage to Thailand even though he is living in exile abroad.

But when someone made allegations against him, he has the right to defend his reputation, said the former Pheu Thai MP.

"had no intention whatsoever to hurt or to cause any damage to Thailand "

Yes for sure. We all remember your red shirt attacks where they showed their violent character against Thailand and Thai people during your failed coup and at many other opportunities.

They burnt down buildings and wanted to burn down Bangkok.

Btw. how can a fugitive criminal file a complaint in Thailand?

So then he was responsible and the charges are baseless?

A litigious person who runs away from his accusers...

Wants to take everybody who calls him a crook to court... but avoids answering the charges against him.

Has he been charged with the bombings?

The fugitive vs the rector.

Return to serve a sentence that was politically motivated while there is a military junta running the country and systematically dismantling all checks and balances?

Let's think that through again.

the man lacks the balls to come back because he knows he will face several other charges and have an even longer time in jail, love the way you apologists simply avoid the real truth, pretty pathetic but then with those  rings on your ankles what can we expect

If sentence was "politically motived" why UK revoke his visa after his conviction, why UK refuse to give him political asylum, why UK froze $4.2 billion of his assets in the UK

Yup. He and his minions have all the love for Thailand.  Hmmm...a couple of manipulations in the financial sector are of keen interest to my mind...

After all you have seen from the current junta and since 2006 and you still cannot get over your Thaksin obsession.

Cannot see the wood for the trees.

Is he entitled to use the Thai legal system for his personal gain?

He's got a lot of nerve if you ask me.

...why are they wasting time with this...and giving it press even....

...file a case in person....or......move on.....

....another tumor.....

How can a convicted felon, on the run file a suit in a Thailand Court?

How is he allowed to even post on this forum?

This kind of crap is now the only way he can keep his name in the news.  Time he retired and planted some roses.

Come on home, sir, and have your day in court!  (And trust me, when you return you WILL have your day in court!  More than likely several..)

But no.  All you understand is YOUR right to drag someone ELSE into court.  Heaven forbid anyone should have the same rights WRT YOU!

Why would the BIB accept a defamation case from a person who has suffered no damage? More to the point, why wasn't Khattiya charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive?

The system will protect the rector from any defamation charges. These are good people and systems are engineered to protect these people. Imagine if Prayut or any of his clowns were the recipients of such accusation, they will be bundled of in the night and perhaps commit suicide or die of strange illnesses or slap with a lengthy LM conviction.

Good people, as opposed to life-time criminals, Eric?

i thought you could not do this if you where a fugitive  (maybe for only some then)

There are criminals disguised as good people. You should know that. They are protected or they have already granted themselves immunity and amnesty.

Some one sullied his good name? You have got to be joking. You have to have a reputation first before some one can sully it. I don't mean a reputation as a dirtbag either.

I got to say, that when he was the Prime Minister. Thailands economy was growing at over 6 % each year.

The last 5 years, it is less then 3 %.

defend his reputation ...

..as what..??

As others have said, if he wants to defend his reputation he has every right to do so.

Personally IN thailand and not via some lackey whose father was good  at

taking care of protesters.
