Next week my extension of stay is due and I will be changing my Non 'O' extension from retirement to marriage.

As the paperwork seems to go to reigonal level, as well as taking the original documents, do I need two copies of everything, or is one sufficient?

I'll be going to Udon Immigration.

You also will need two completed TM7 form with an attached photo with the copies attached to each one.

UJ, can you just clarify that please regarding "the copies attached to each one".

Does that mean two original photos - one for each TM7, or something else?

Thanks,

It is the photo for the TM7 forms. And copies of the supporting documents attached to each form.

You also need two sets of the photos of you and your wife in and around the house.

Can the photos 'in & around the house' be montaged on one A4 sheet & printed on a home printer or do they have to be printed at a 'photo shop'?

To get all the photos on one sheet might make them to small. You can print them yourself.

I print the 4 photos the office here wants on two sheets of A4 photo paper with photo size set to 5 X 7 inches.

I do one photo showing the house from the street and a family photo under the house number on one sheet. Then 2 photos inside the house on the other sheet.

One of the house photos needs to show the house and the house number.

We usually congregate around our house number with one of the kids pointing at the number with the house in the background. Been doing this for years and all 4 of us hate the charade we have to go through to get the photos - you've never seen such miserable looking kids hating every second of it ;-)

In Chiangmai where I  am living  I`m quite lucky insofar as only have to show my wife and myself sitting on the settee ,   life's a bitch some times.   :)

At Kap Cheong last week I was required to provide four copie's.  Like many things here different offices seem to have their own set of rules.

I can only imagine the size of the bonfire every year to get rid of the waste, after all we have to do this allover again next year.

Does changing from extension based on retirement to extension based on marriage reset the "perminent residency"-rule of same visa for 3 years? Does anyone know?

If it does maybe the op would want to continue doing retirement extensions and going for the perm residency.

Unless you are working and paying taxes the 3 years on extensions of stay are irrelevant since you do not qualify for permanent residency.

It certainly seems that various offices follow their own rules in procedures required. While it would be ok for the first couple of years of marriage, as time goes by one feels like a performing puppet acting on the personal whims of the case officer.

However, this time we received the utmost courtsey from the lady officer. Re. the pics. She said,' Sorry its the rules.'

5 pics at Chang Wattana..

2 outside house showing no.

Living room, kitchen, bedroom, wardrobe door open.

Pics I take  2 of the house ,2 of  us + witness  outside showing house no. 2 of us in the lounge 2 of us sitting on the bed

As far as I've learned that's only one route out of 5. Being married and/or having children is another.

Sure there is a category as mentioned in that file but you need to read the documents required to apply. See:  Supporting Thai citizen or being supported by Thai citizen

If you are married to a Thai and can meet the requirements shown in that file you could apply for Thai nationality instead which is less costly and has greater benefits than PR.
