Being Informed About Thai News and About Visa Regulations

Hi,

I am an expat here in Chiang Mai. What are the best methods I can use to be:

• Informed in general about what's going on in Thailand and CM.
• informed in general about what's going on with visas and regulations? I don't want to read every post or article on the matter, just find a way to know more or less in general.

Any suggestions?

In general it takes work and time to be informed and learn,

it is not just being handed out to you.

On "general news", everyone has their own opinion on what is significant. For Thai speakers, going to news.google.com and selecting Thailand news is the best solution. I personally, about weekly, go to Google search and look for "Thailand news" and restrict results to the last week. That works reasonably well.

 

For visa and immigration news, without time consuming reviews of all threads, I have often thought @ubonjoe could create a sticky thread in reverse date order, summarizing what he believes it most important for people to know. I have found from experience that TV's own search is fairly useless for finding visa information efficiently. Using Google search (site:thaivisa.com ....) is better, but still results in a lot of reading. Unfortunately, it is in TV's best interests to force you to spend as much time on the site as possible.

The Thaivisa newsletter is an excellent way to receive links not only to important general news items but also about visa and immigration matters.
