PHETCHABUN: -- Phetchabun governor Mr Bundit Thaveetivarak said today that he and the chief of the Forestry Resources Management Office 4 were threatened with life if they didn't stop the demolition of resorts in Phu Tab Berk mountain.

The death threat was conveyed to him by the chief district officer of Lomkhao district.

He disclosed that the chief officer Charnchai Sonsrivichai informed him of the death threat he received on phone call.

But the governor said he was unshaken by the threat and would continue to demolish all resorts which were illegally built on the mountain.

However he said before the demolition of any resort, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit would go in first to make sure it was safe before heavy machinery and workers entered.

Yesterday the operation to dismantle resorts was conducted by about 700-strong police officers, soldiers and forestry officials, volunteers.

every effort should be made to pursue the people who made these threats and if and when they are found should be locked up for a very long time, no stone should left uncovered until they are found

Not to worry Smedly. Likely these are Hmong, and not any Homng but this is the very village where the Red Meo Revolt sprang from after a police operation gone wrong in 67 or so. As such the Thai Authorities will tear down the resorts and likely chase them down. We have bad blood going back fifty years.

Now if they were owned by a Thai Puyai, that would be a different story:thumbsup:
