Tranlee assets go up for auction

PHUKET: -- More than 150 assets of the embattled Tranlee Travel Co are to be auctioned off on September 6, Phuket’s Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) announced yesterday.

The assets – 33 boats, 57 buses, parcels of land and millions of baht – were seized after investigators declared that the Phuket-based tour operator had been established illegally (story here). 

AMLO Secretary General Gen Chaiya Siriamphankul stated that potential bidders can inspect the assets on September 5 from 9.30am to 4pm at the following venues: Sang Arun Port on Anuphas Road; Phuket Boat Lagoon in Koh Kaew; Jor Jaroen Kanrualek Pier, Kan Rua Sikij Pier and Rattnachai Kanrua Pier in Rassada; the Region 8 Police Station in Thalang near the Sarasin Bridge; and at the Tranlee Travel offices on Poon Pon Road in Phuket Town.

Isn't the final price set by the bidders at the auction, so how would it be possible to declare it bargains now already?

Get real - bargain to be had. It a fire sale auction ..

I can't really see there being too many bidders here.  Perhaps a newly formed company to buy back some seized assets?

AMLO should vet the bidders to see where the money comes from.  Surely in their purview.  BTW, this is the quickest auction I have seen.  Usually takes years through normal courts.

Tell the Thai navy to get their bids in cheaper than subs and faster. The holes are all drilled to mount machine guns and sling a couple torpedo tubes on the side and wallah an instant cheap fast efficient expendable navy. A good example is how the Iran speed boats stymied the US biggest and best.

Your an illegal foreign tourist company. Looks good to the locals fast efficient justice. Your government is protecting your interests blah blah blah. Besides you get to pick up some key working equipment on the cheap. Key words foreign and deemed to be illegal. Wonder how hey they got to operate so long and become so big before being caught? Bribes maybe? Perish the thought.
