PHUKET: -- A man suspect wanted in connection with a robbery at a gold shop in Patong on Friday morning (Sept 9) was arrested on Saturday (Sep 10). The police have stated the man is a Russian national.

Patong Police led by Lt Col Somsak Thongkleng arrested 32-year-old Dmitrii Sevastianov at a hotel on Phra Meita Rd on an arrested warrant issued on Saturday for attempted theft at night by destroying other people’s property and damaging other people’s property and assets. Sevastianov was at the hotel with his wife when arrested.

Sevastianov admitted to police that an image caught on the shop’s CCTV was him and said his wife was nothing to do with the incident.

The robbery took place at the Yaowarat Namchok gold shop on Phra Meita Rd in Patong on the morning of Sept 9.

Clearly not the sharpest knife in the box.

Russian robber

Does this mean he was a Cardboard Gangster  :coffee1:

Funny, have these idiots never heard of CCTV or covering any distinguishing marks?

Probably not a thief back home.

and we were just reading about more russians rolling into phuket.

Lucky the cops got him not the Chinese gold dealers. He is a lot safer in the cops hands.

one of the quality Russian tourists that TAT are so pleased are swarming into Phuket lately?

Pretty dumb guy.....tattoos on his arms he doesnt cover up, smashed one CCTV camera in the store, but the other ones got his face. Was in the store 30 mins trying to break open the safe in full view of cameras. Then walked back to his hotel in full view of many CCTV cameras. The police must have been laughing at another really stupid farang. I guess they don't have CCTV in Russia. Enjoy the Thai prison while your wife heads back to Mother Russia.

I just read yesterday that the Russians were returning to Phuket. I see some are

making it a working holiday. :P

Amazing!  He was probably going to sell it on Facebook
