Emster23 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 "...the police could not do it single handedly - he wants the public to play their part by obeying the law too." Well that ain't gonna happen. Besides, he forgot to say "pretty please". Maybe should have said "To reduce traffic, all police will be confined to their local stations. One stop service windows will be installed to handle all types of criminal activities. All major credit cards accepted".

The next adornment needs to be a Batman-style utility belt! Flags on the PVC crim bashing poles, what could go wrong?!?!

Bluespunk Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 " They will be able to make changes to things like traffic flow, signage, arrows on the roads." I'm starting to see where the flaw may lie in this "plan".

waldroj Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 For those of you wondering what the flags will be used for: Wow, real "outside the square" thinking!
Sphere Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 There's no reason why this idea should fail. The red, yellow and green lights work so well.
shirtless Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Also there will be no corruption by the year 2036 555 this is great.
elgordo38 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Here is your high tech answer Semaphore flags In computer science, a semaphore is a variable or abstract data type that is used for controlling access, by multiple processes, to a common resource in a concurrent system such as a multiprogramming operating system.
HomeinThailand Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Flags to fix traffic?!?!?!? Send this idea to every large city. Instead of spending millions on new roads, they can spend a few dollars on flags. Buy a flag and POOF no more traffic. Yup...that little flag will fix everything.
bendejo Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Psssst! Hey, Captain, they're not written in Thai!

kingalfred Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 and how exactly are they "driving forward" to end city traffic congestion? Hmmmm Talk is cheap

This isn't so much about alleviating traffic as it is an excuse for some high up to show off his English skills. Anywho, back to nothing about the traffic changing. Nice flags, though. They'll have to go into the museum of "What were we thinking?". ..what floor do you reckon the flags will be displayed on.
AlphMichaels Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 IF this were to be effectively managed it should fall under the Ministry of Transportation (MOT). Their "vision" - To strive to effect improvement and make transportation and traffic systems convenient, fast, safe, efficient and reliable with transparency in all processes. One can't help but chuckle when considering use of the other Thai term "mot".
CantSpell Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 "Smart police sticks" yesterday... "Ending the traffic woes flags" today... On par with TAT for the daily laughs, GRATS Keep them coming
DM07 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 ...and here is a balloon with a clowns face for everybody!
PeeJay1959 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Most cities use complex computer programmes to control the traffic light to maximise flow. I don't think BIB with flags can match that 555
DerekMarshall Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Well, if they actually cracked down of drivers with no driving licence..there would be no traffic! oh wait..no people to fine and pocket the cash either...

I speak and read English fairly well and I don't understand what is before and after..... Having said that, I know plenty places around the world that traffic is much worse than BKK and with mush more obnoxious and rude drivers, the real problems is that not enough roads are being build to accommodate the hundred of thousands of cars added to the roads every year, many roads should be one way and will solve many problems, but when traffic laws and rules are up to the whims of a local Pu yei and big businesses that dictated to the local chief of the police station by those influential people things are going to remain as they're no matter how many flags the will hand out...... And the U turns
tominbkk Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 No tangible solutions mentioned in the press release.
orchidlady Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Are they going to do drill team exercises with the flags to entertain the remaining motorists stuck in traffic?
natway09 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Please,,,, just leave it alone,, I just wanna get home
djlest Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 it would so easy to fix the traffic and ive said it many times before... Get rid of 50% of the taxis... still way enough for everyone, may have to wait 5 mins instead of 10 seconds... so what? you would arrive at your destination faster anyway! TAXI OVERLOAD = TRAFFIC OVERLOAD
