PHUKET: -- Police arrested a 58-year-old Australian man in a bar on Patong’s party street Bangla Rd last night (Sept 13) after the man had spent three years quietly living in Phuket avoiding a warrant for his arrest in Australia on drug charges.

Phuket Tourist Police and Phuket Crime Suppression officers, working with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), moved in and arrested Robert Gordon Pollybank Gee at Bar Funk, opposite the Tiger Pub bar complex on Bangla Rd, at 11pm.

Gee was wanted on an arrest warrant issued in Australia on July 4, 2012, for drug-possession charges.

To make matters worse for the Australian drug fugitive, Gee was also found in possession of a fake passport.

“We found him at the bar. He was surprised to see us there,” said Maj Col Nareuwat Phutwiro, an investigator with the Phuket Tourist Police.

His new home in an Australian prison will be far better than being locked up here

Will he be immediately extradited, or will Thai justice get him for illegal entry, illegal stay, false passport etc.?

Love the look of the cops in the photos, glaring and scowling in one photo, in another the accusatory finger point, while in the last at the station posing for the photo op. Classic................

You have lost me.

Please do tell what is the expression that the officers should maintain at all times for your benefit?

Thanks

I  noted he had changed his shirt in the last photo. Cleaned up, ready to travel?

If the Feds travelled up here to effect arrest with the locals, they would probably have made arrangements to take him back with them.

The country will be so much safer now that this dangerous criminal is off the streets (NOT)

Authorities waste so much time and money chasing these guys instead of going after the real crims

Wrong thread, you're supposed to write nonsense like this in threads about workpermit violation arrests, not drug arrests.

From an Australian news site:

He reportedly admitted fleeing Australia in 2011 and entered Thailand via boat without going through the Thai Immigration Police’s process. He said he bought the fake passport in 2013, but refused to tell authorities who he obtained it from.

Usually he has to serve 50% of his sentence in Thailand. But with other considerations it will be much less,

Illegal drugs destroy billions of lives worldwide.

Unfortunately, today that is the only income many can generate in inner cities and who live in poverty.

In the future, many countries may experience what Columbia experienced for many years.

If something is not done soon, we may lose our younger generation worldwide!  :(
