Hello,

my fiancée and i are planning to marry next december in 2017.

I already contacted some hotels and services for offers. But i would like to know if you have any suggestions for us? It must not be in Phuket, just the south western region.

We plan a small wedding with max. 15 guests, it must be a legal marriage with western style. A basic package should include this: (copy from an existing package for ~ 60-70k bhat without seats)

- Briefing with Wedding Master about all ceremony steps.
- Hair Dressing and Making Up.
- Fresh Flower Buttonhole for Groom.
- Fresh Flower Bouquet for Bride.
- Photographer with unlimited shooting + 50 photos print (6x8 inches) with elegant album + 1 USB.
- Round trip transfer from/to your hotel.
- Scented cold towel and drinking water.
- Venue floral decorations, aisle/altar set-up and flower arch.
- Master of Ceremony (Celebrant).
- Music background playing during ceremony (Plug-in from iPod or iPhone).
- Candle Lighting or Sand Unity Ceremony.
- Arrangement of wedding vow and ring exchange ceremony.
- Seats for guests

I hope you can help us! Thank you.

This might be the wrong forum. May want to ask Mods to move.

The Groom should take a very close look at the wedding plans......AND RUN LIKE HELL.

Assuming the groom is Farang. The next question would have to be: Is the bride a  Farang Lady (a previous long term relationship, grown over the years in Farangland) or rather something else?

Cheers.

OP, I have a friend in Phuket who conducts wedding ceremonies.

If you would like his contact details then PM me.

He will be able to give you lots more info on various packages available at different hotels, as he does weddings at several of the 5* resorts.

Question remains: Marrying high school sweetheart and still in love with her and after years of waiting, the expense will be worth it and the experience of a romantic marriage under the shadow of palm trees will stay with her for a lifetime.

If that is not the case, it will be a "run of the mill marriage" between a Farang and some Thai Lady with predictable results.

The very fact, that "Farang Commission Hunters" are already on the scene is utterly disgusting

Cheers..

A legal marriage in Thailand requires Registration at Government Office. You can have any kind of ceremony, celebration, church Western or Thai style, but it's not a legal marriage. Wedding vows, rings, etc does not make it legal in Thailand. Have to do the civil paperwork procedure at the Government Office.

Jerojero makes an extremely valid and important point.

Getting hitched here involves the visible ceremony which can be pretty well anything you like and the paperwork at the ampur office which actually performs the marriage. The two do not need to be on the same day.

Only the registration of required paperwork at the amphoe is required to be legally married.

Any "ceremony" is strictly optional.

If you are referring to be in your above statement, it is more a reflection on you being negative than me...

My friend in Phuket conducted my wedding service. The OP was after information and that is what I offered, no commissions mentioned or involved !!

Not entirely true.

Officially, yes you need to do the registration at the Government Office. But it is possible to get a registrar to come to any location in Phuket at additional fees, which goes directly in their pocket.

Nevertheless, you would need to obtain a statuary declaration by your home countries embassy in Bangkok, which states that you are free to marry. This declaration has than to be translated into Thai and approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affair. Only with these documents for both bride and groom are you able to conduct the registration at local Amphur or beach.

For most nationalities this requires an additional trip to Bangkok to get the documents as personal appearance at the embassy is mandatory.

Absolutely true. I'm a celebrant and the most common mistake I have encountered is the misunderstanding of what is needed to have the marriage legally recognized in the home country. Another option to visiting your home country's embassy in Bangkok is to get married at the registry office in your home town and then come directly to the location in Thailand where you want to get married. You can PM me, if you want, for advice. and dont mind any negative posters here, they are all washed up. and - most important, congratulations !!!!
