FLOODWATER has eaten away the riverbank next to the controversial Mae Pongphan Pattana dyke, making it unable to hold water from upstream despite the fact it was only built a week ago.

Photos of the eroded riverbank circulated on social media Friday, showing that water from the stream had created a hole about a metre wide.

Ah the dyke of Chiang Mai

.........who will claim ownership now?

Typical........wonder if the name plaque survived?

All face and no foundation.

The standard building blocks used around here.

Oh you gotta laugh...the name sign and the associated 'ceremony' probably cost more than the dyke!

Why not just stick a finger or 3 in the dyke  ( she might like it )

an auspicious sign, it's now holey, gurgling up lottery numbers

Of course,This would be the correct example of Thai engineering. The contractors get paid to put a few million into the project but use only a few hundred thousand is used, pocketing the rest along with kick backs. This is the normal results.

Chaiyo!...............oops, apologies, wrong person on the sign.
