KANCHANABURI:- Police and soldiers in Kanchanaburi raided two illegal traditional massage parlours and one illegal karaoke bar on Thursday.

At the Thunder Thai massage on Patanakarn Road they discovered they had no license and there were 8 illegal foreign female workers.

At Tharathip on U-Thong road, another Thai massage parlour, the raiding party found service women in a "fishbowl" (viewing room for customers). Some 15 were doing illegal work.

All 23 of the above women were taken to the police station and charged.

Later the Relax Karaoke was also targeted. The Tha Nam Na Muang road establishment was found not to have a license to operate.

Thirteen Thai nationals there without ID were fined.

have to really wonder if there is any point to all of these raids. these places are all over thailand. also thailand is full of illegal burmese lao and cambodian workers. fining them is not going to make any difference. bit of extra cash for the cops i suppose.

that takes the cake. the operators have been so emboldened that just set up a shop whenever and wherever they feel like it.

possibly there is no fear of being caught, and if caught, not being heavily punished.

blanket check should be done to ensure enforcement and illegals should be given befitting punishment to deter them and others from pursuing illegal activities.

Don't fret. The PM has promised that corruption in LOS will be eradicated within 20 years. I wonder will there be anyone around then 'to close the door and turn the lights out' on the tourist industry. Will you volunteer for this unpaid, but very important duty?

They probably checked the blankets for illegal or overstaying Burmese fleas or Cambodian bedbugs while finding the 15 girls doing "illegal work."

Could've been the Peking duck from the chinese next door who informed on the bar owner!

I suspect that there are 'real' crimes taking place out there that the police could do something about--you know, the type of crime where there are actually victims. [Of course, I'm assuming these women weren't trafficked]
