Railay Beach And Phra Nang From Phuket?

Hi,

I was wondering if it`s possible to get to visit Railay beach and Phra Nang from Phuket in a day trip?

These places look so beautiful but there isn`t anywhere in Krabi that we can stay at with my tour operator so we will be staying in Phuket at the JW Marriott.

Any advice about how to get there would be really appreciated if it`s possible to do.

Thanks Di

so i dont think you will have fun with 1 day trip. You will be tired from travelling.

No not unless you are masochistic. :o

If your are into masochism special trips can be arranged. In Phuket everything is possible! :D

What about going the other way?

In a few weeks, i will be in Krabi (and Railay) for a while, and then moving on to Phuket for a few days.

I was wondering what was the best way to travel - get a boat from Railey to Phuket or a bus from Krabi to Phuket?

Also, if you were to take the bus route, would it be practical to combine the travelling from Krabi to Phuket with a tour of Pha Nga bay whilst on the way?

Thanks for your advice all.

Why do you need to stay with the same tour operator?

Krabi is beautiful and certainly worth a visit, but you will not see much in a day trip. It would be better to stay overnight and give yourself time to enjoy it.

If you are staying at the JW Marriott it is only a two hour drive. And if you are staying there, you probably do not need to make it a budget trip. Hire a car or take a taxi.

Once you get there, Railay is a short boat trip from Ao Nang. There is plenty of accommodation and you can rent a boat to go and visit some of the small islands in Krabi Bay.

Thanks for the replies.

I need to stick with the same tour operator as we are doing a multi centre tailor made holiday which I can`t get through other tour operators the way I want it. I have a back problem which means I need some extra help, especially at airports and for transfers, which they have dealt with on previous holidays through them really well.

We are planning to go to Phi Phi on a day trip and to Phang Nga on another day trip, so if it is too difficult to get to Krabi we will give it a miss this time.

Is it a two hour drive from J W Marriott to Ao Nang? If so we may hire a driver to do that as that would be OK just to get a glimpse of the place.

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, two hours drive from JW Marriott to Ao Nang.

Personally I don't think Ao Nang is the best place to visit in Krabi. It is just a resort town with an average beach and not a lot else going for it. If you have a back problem then the longtail boat ride to Railay would probably be a problem. However, if you hire a driver there is a lot of nicer stuff to see. Lots of nice scenery, limestone cliffs, Than Bokkharani National Park, Soosan Hoi. I am sure he will know where to go.
