Defunct Phone Boxes on Huay Kaew Road

Featured Replies

I was going to write a long sarcastic post about how we have the finest bus stops in Chiang Mai along Huay Kaew Road. We do. Just no buses.

You'll just have to imagine how witty and acerbic that post was going to be in its lead up to pointing out how we now also have more phone boxes than anywhere else. No phones, just old booths that seem to have been dumped every 100 meters along the road. What the devil is up with that?

Ah. It's becoming clearer . . . they've attached large advertising signs to them.

Some of them are really badly placed, forcing pedestrians into the traffic. Bad idea, but I guess someone is getting some coin. To hell with the externalities.
