Pattayaland 1 seeks hole-y intervention

PATTAYA:--Holes on Soi 13/3 have grown to up to 30 centimeters deep after being neglected for what residents claim has been years.

Also known as Soi Pattayaland 1, the street used to be privately owned, but long has been a public soi used as a key transit route between Beach and Second roads. In recent years, tour buses have taken to the soi, contributing to the road damage.

Business owners on the bar-lined street say tourists have fallen into the holes many times, especially at night. They want city hall to finally address the holy problem and bless their street with a repair crew.

I don't think Thailand has a road maintenance of any kind , in all the driving I have done around the country most roads, streets etc are not maintained and can take years to be repaired and even then don't last before getting more potholes appear . Any small side rides simply just don't see any repair work unless a serious accident or death happens .

World class pot-holes to match the world-class debris in the water, world-class beach rats (two and four-legged) and world-class traffic jams. Truly a hub of world-class titles. I walk most places and don't use the beach here.

We had a gang do some potholes on a soi near us at its junction with Suk.  They must have had some old rubble left over.  There were about ten of them who worked diligently for twenty minutes or so.

Then the rains came and washed it all away.  Six days after the repair it is worse than it's ever been.

Quality potholes can be a good thing if they deter speeding bikes.

Perhaps detering huge coaches is another advantage to be considered. But in the abscence of clear pavements we do need to consider vulnerable pedestrians! It is hardly a wheelchair friendly environment either.
