Can't answer your question as the forum sponsor, Swimming Pools Thailand, apparently operates the 10 bag 250kg minimum and it is the only online source I know now (since a previously well-known Bangkok pool operator who had online sales seems to have gone, or at least gone less visible online).

The JD pools franchisee in my local regional capital (Ubon) sold single bags last time I looked (about 3 years ago), but the price was 200 baht a bag.

Two suggestions:

  1. Salt supplier TRS Salt will give out details of sales agents in your area that are pool shops etc, who may retail sell/deliver individual bags or small loads. Search for the sales office/their website with Google. Best to get a Thai to call them unless you speak good Thai - I speak moderate Thai, but found the need to introduce my wife onto the call.
  2. Post your location - perhaps someone like me with a large pool and bulk sources (I buy/store 2 tons/2 years supply at a bit less than half the retail price I noted above) will be kind enough to help you out. I would and a mate I know in Roi Et probably would too! Alternatively someone in your locale might share a purchase from SPT with you.

Good luck. I understand if you choose to remain mysterious (as to location)

Edit: TRS Salt are of course more than a supplier - they mine the stuff in Korat. Kind of fun to pick up a tonne from their very impressive Pimai factory - if you happen to have reason to go there. A tonne (which was the minimum factory sale quantity I recall) does not destroy a decent modern pick-up (but you should equalise the load by putting bags in the cab and not taking passengers!) was 85baht a bag in 2014. I appreciate that doesn't help you but may inform others looking in now or on later research.

pool chemicals properly distributed apr14 IMG_2711.JPG

The OP might try the Surin Swimming Pool Builder who has an on line shop for pool chemicals. I was at the actual physical warehouse office of www.ThailandPoolShop.com  on Tuesday to pick up 7 way water test strips they import from the United States. I noticed TRS swimming pool salt as part of an order in that store. Two native English speakers Paul and Richard were able to show me many items for my pool that my normal Buriram supplier did not have in stock. Hence I took the drive to Surin, but this Thailand Pool Shop has a thriving on line sales business for pool owners in other Thailand Provinces. Real phone numbers of people you could speak with at this Isaan swimming pools company in Surin.

Thanks kamalabob2, it seems that ThailandPoolShop will sell single bags, shipping isn't cheap (it is heavy after all).

A work colleague spoke to the Pathum distributor for TRS who, whilst he won't deliver less than a ton, will sell 5 bags if I collect. Not sure of the price yet, will report when we've visited him on Saturday.

Any FOOD GRADE salt is suitable for pools .

Many of the online pool websites caution against using food salt because of the additives, such as iodine and anti-caking agents.

Sorry should have said food grade salt and not any, there is a big difference, Will post some data sheets later, many thanks for pointing it out. food grade is the key wording though.

If JD Pools in Bangkok (on Petchaburi Road near top of Thonglor district last time I went there) has the same stock-holding policy as Ubon JD Pools then you might be able to pick up at 200 bahtish a bag there. Google for their website/map/phone. Obviously not as near as your Pathum Thani distributor though, so only of use if you happen to need to go near central BKK or its a last resort!

Success!!!

Got five 25kg bags of TRS Refined Salt (same spec. as the pool salt) for 100 Baht a bag, picked up at the Rangsit distributor.

If you're near one of the distributors it's well worth giving them a bell :)

Great result. ! wish my Ubon/Sisaket distributors would do that! I checked 2-3 years back and they would deliver a ton of salt but at substantially more than 100 baht a bag. I need to revisit that.
