BANGKOK: -- Srisuwan Janya, secretary-general of the Association for the Protection of the Thai Constitution, lodged a petition with the Ombudsman yesterday asking for an inquiry into Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan’s ethics and whether he had followed the junta’s propounded 12 values in relation to a recent trip to Hawaii.

Prawit, who is also a deputy prime minister and a key member of the ruling National Council for Peace and Order, should set a good example in line with the junta's proposed 12 values, which encourage self-sufficiency, he said.

Nice try but doomed to failure as everything has already been found to be above board and that's official.

As for the 12 core values etc this gentleman will have to understand they were issued for everyone else to comply with.

A valid trip has shown how excesses from within

human nature to be greedy, garnish and elicit your self in self indulgence,

spread the practice so it encompasses all,

deny and deflect any wrong doings

how nice to be in power.

maybe above board

but acting like they are trying to hide something

Thai officialdom, the BIB et al may wonder why nobody trusts them and rarely believes much they say and it's all self-inflicted injury.

They can take the simplest, most legit situation and turn it into an unnecessary mystery because of their own attitude, not the least of which is face and belief in status which makes them reluctant to explain anything and the expectation that everything they say must automatically be believed.

And when a situation isn't simple and probably not legit they excel.

"He also criticised Prawit for saying on Monday that he was single and could see anybody he wanted after allegations were made related to a woman who joined the trip for unspecified reasons."

Trans-national trafficing, perhaps?

Can't see what the problem is. There was plenty of sufficiency going around with that oversize entourage. Perhaps if the trip was limited to essential personnel rather than being bloated with friends, sycophants, parasitic party goers and the odd g.f. or two.

Interesting that no news has come forth about this informal  US- Asian defence meeting. Did anyone bother to attend I wonder.

"Whoever wants to take legal action about this, let them do it," Prayut told reporters at Government House on October 3, so here it is!

Gotta respect his courage going up against the Generals, more than one!

Yep, definitely, but I'm sure he committed LM in some way while doing so, if you know what I mean...

Brave. Not enough of them in current times. Wish there were more bravehearts.

Interesting situation if he keeps on being a thorn in the side of the junta, will they roll with it or take firmer action ?

They don't seem a very tolerant bunch.

He not only a thorn of the junta but also a thorn to big corporations. Remember his 2009 injunction that halted $9 B worth of projects in the Map Tu Phut industrial zone.

He is one the many activists who went through much intimidation and have police watching and following him and doesn't seem to be cowed. Being a high profile personality does have some protection.

Value number 1 is????:sorry: Does this man have any redeemable values. He always come on the news looking like the cat that swallowed the canary. Humility would definitely not be one of his "values"

I wonder how long he will remain free this time...

Can't touch him. He's wearing a pink tie.
