Demolition Deadline Looms for Naklua Buildings

PATTAYA: -- On the morning of October 11 the acting Pattaya Governor, Mr Chanatpong Sriwises. assembled a Civic Office inspection team and visited areas along the public canal at Klongpukplub, Nakleau.

 

According to the land surveyors report there should be only one commercial building and specific accommodation/rental rooms in this area.

 

However, there are many other buildings present, including one which is 320SqM in size and valued at over 10million baht.

 

Demolition orders have been served and all buildings that have encroached upon public land must be removed within forty-five days of October 11.

 

Mr. Chanatpong said that some of these buildings were constructed over ten-years ago. He believed that as the canal used to be twenty-meters wide, and is now reduced to seven meters by the illegal buildings, this encroachment is causing much of the flooding problem in the area.

These deadlines seem to go on for years and no action .Some deadlines for walking street are more than ten years old .

Hope the current administration can get things done

There was a meeting last week at Pattaya City on the 4 possible solutions to solve the problem. No decision taken yet, but they will have to decide quickly as the Military is pushing to end this case.

Just not true.

Look at the Boutique Hotel who built 4 illegal additional floors

and has been condemned to demolition.

They started about 1 month ago, and they work at a rather good speed. There is even a small digger on the roof

 

What has been long are the court procedures, with the owner trying every possible ways and recours to stop the demolition.

I for one am very happy to see that progress is being made against all these illegal buildings, may it continue for a long time, about time some of these people who have been giving the middle finger to the authorities now find that they have nowhere to hide. About bloody time.

Doesn't really matter if it took 18 months since I doubt they would be able to be operational with those holes in the walls.

 

And I'm sure the owner now has some sour grapes to swallow, because his refusal to remove the additional floors ended up in a complete demolishing.

Drive around anywhere in the small sois in Pattaya and see that almost every business has encroached on part of the roads.

If they are really serious about encroaching on public property, they will have to demolish the biggest part of Pattaya.

And what exactly is the problem? It has to start sooner or later or should we just leave Pattaya lawless for the next few hundred years? Better to start now then never

Any encroaching on public land whether a big operator or small time business should be clamped down on and hard, sorry if that sounds harsh but people have been walking roughshod over rules and regulations for far too long.

Don't worry old son, with the rain we've had over the last 5 days or so those top floors will soon be at ground floor level
