Dental implants in Chiang Mai ?

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a very good dental surgeon around Chiang Mai for dental implants ?

3 years ago I was quoted 800000 baht for a full set of dental implants at the Chiang Mai Dental hospital on the super highway.

Elite Smile, at the corner of Panthip Plaza.
I've done 5 implants and currently doing the 6th (and the last - I hope!!).

The implantologist is only there on Wednesday, but very professional.

36,000 THB the implant + 10-15,000 the crown, according to the chosen quality.

Thank you Thailsacien, this kind of information is useful. Previously Ive had work done at BIDC in Bkk..., couldn't fault anything they've done..., but I may need a relatively minor implant and as good as BIDC is I would prefer not to travel down to Bkk.

Add 15k - 30k more if bone grafting is needed. I use Elite.....  Great service and work in my opinion.

If they perform bone graft surgery, I'm guessing they must have an MRI scanning machine.

What sort of pain relief did they give you and how long was the process?

Implant prices in CM seem quite high. In Sri Racha I paid 40kB for an implant, including the crown and x-rays etc, and 8kB for a bone graft. This from a proper hospital dental clinic and a specialised implantologist.

Bone grafts for implants do not require an MRI. They just put some reconstituted bone onto the jaw where it bonds with the existing bone. It's extracted from corpses (but they usually dont tell you that).

My previous experience is that to determine if the bone density is sufficient enough to support an implant or 2, or 3....., an MRI is first undertaken. 'If' the MRI scan defines that the bone in that specific area is of insufficient density, then a bone graft 'may' follow..., often from a cow(believe it or not). Bone grafts in the upper jaw need at least 8 months(more is better) to stabilise.
I don't mean to split hairs but as stated this is my experience over the last 3 years.

When I had my graft done here the implantologist just checked the thickness of bone from the panoramic x-ray. The density apparently wasn't an issue. I certainly didnt have an MRI. However these were for single implants with single crowns and only one needed a graft. Maybe things are different for implants with multiple crowns. Interestingly several other non-specialist dentists were unable to do the same implant due to "lack of space" or "lack of bone". The specialist who finally did the job had no such trouble.

I am also only relating my personal experience in Thailand over the last 4 years. YMMV

I would recommend DENTAL WORLD CHIANGMAI clinic located in city area.  Dr.Surasak is an expert for implants and he really takes care his patients very good and closed-up.  My implant is perfect without any problem until now (2 yrs it has been done).  Effective cost and high quality!

Just wanna share my impressed experience by Dentalworld clinic. Yes, Dr.Surasak is very expert and nice guy.  He is extremely skilled, caring, plus English speaking.  They also offer "laughing gas" in case you feel too nervous and like to relax (but I did not take it ☺️)

It is more than worth to have implants at this clinic than in Australia.  Recommend also for cleaning, PAINLESS root canal and fillings. I usually make a trip to visit them for checking up my 2 implants whenever I come Thailand. For updated cost, you may check their website.
