May ready for tough talks over Brexit

Is this really a wise move by Teresa May at this point in time?

Theresa May has arrived in the Middle East as part of her efforts to strengthen links with other trading partners as Brexit approaches.

And another question mark over her judgement.

Damian Green will stand in for Theresa May at Prime Minister’s Questions in the Commons, despite damaging allegations that extreme pornography was found on his office computer. The First Secretary of State is also being investigated over claims that he made inappropriate advances to a young Conservative party activist.

Sorry debunked

The court found that what the UK government was doing was not ILLEGAL. It's unethical and unreasonable but that is my point! Do you think other European governments act in the same way? Of course not.

So, ahead and trust the UK government over the EU. Foolish in the extreme.

She may be ready for the talks but is she ready for the aftermath, probably not but as she will soon be toast and will have a good pension I don't suppose she is bothered, she wont have to stay in the UK

So it looks like the UK will pay £50bn to the EU just to begin talks? That’s 5 years worth of so-called “savings” down the drain ... looks like the NHS will just have to wait. Unless of course we can get a trade deal selling ice to the Eskimos?

What a predictable shambles!

One consolation in all of this is that they need us more than we need them ... as you can see.

So it is an opinion piece and not anything to do with the government at all.

A quote from your link.

" Many pensioners are labouring under the misapprehension that they have worked and paid National Insurance all of their working life, so they have ‘earned’ a State Pension."

It is NOT a misapprehension and all tax payers have no choice about paying the contributions whether they want to or not. If the writer belives that they are not entitled to a state pension then the state has been stealing from every taxpayer over the years.

Correct! Pensions are paid out of current revenues. National Insurance is actuall a scam.

Everything in the UK is a scam.

It has already been confirmed that the state coffers will be reduced as a result of brexit and before March 2019. This in turn will reduce the government's ability to meet its domestic expenses, the state pension being one of them. It would appear that external expenses are never at risk.

Nobody is saying the pension will go down but a smaller increase would in fact be a reduction.

Brexit is irrelevant to this. I begrudge having  to wait an extra two years because of Cameron and his loviness of paying 13 billion a year to despots and the ilk. Ive only 22 years or 24 if from 16 counts of NI but I still support Brexit

Trump may have placed May in a tenuous situation that might affect post Brexit trade deals with the US. He has just retweeted to his 44 million followers posts by Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of Britain First, three inflammatory videos from a British far-right account rife with anti-Muslim content.

The British government is being called upon to condemn Trump’s retweets, calling them “abhorrent, dangerous and a threat to our society."

But is May willing to criticize Trump knowing his penchant for retaliating against those who "attack" him and put any trade agreement on hold?

Every day Remainers warnings become more hysterical as they wallow in the difficulties of negotiation and yearn for a Brexit catastrophe to justify the way they voted. These people are aliens and can no longer justify being called British since they have abandoned (when it suited them) the cornerstone of our community...democratic values. They do not give a fig for Britain's future because they cannot accept the democratic will of the people. Did they report yesterdays news that Unilever have rowed back on their plans to leave London after Brexit....no. Did they report yesterdays news that Merck and Qiagen are to create almost 2000 jobs in the UK......no. Did they report that the pessimistic OECD has been forced to upgrade its UK growth forecast for 2018 just a month after issuing the last one....no. Did they report the the majority of forecasters predict British growth ( which has massively outstripped most of Europe for years) will continue uninterrupted for years......no. Did they report that 1.2 million jobs will be lost on the continent (Ireland hit the hardest), twice as many as Great Britain while 30 million European Insurance Policies will be void without a deal for the city?........no  It's not surprising the EU is keen to talk.

Did they report US Bank Morgan Stanleys statement

"One prospect is much more scary than Brexit for the UK economy. A hard left Government under Jeremy Corbyn"..no

Yet they continue to work hard through scare mongering to make this possible.

? 48% of the British people are hysterical aliens that can not be called British?

If you say so.

No not 48%. Many have accepted the result and want the best negotiated deal for the country. There is however a coterie of people, many on this forum and at large, who refuse to accept the result of the referendum and have decided the best deal for the UK is a bad deal. It justifies their vote. You only have to read between the lines to see how much they enjoy bad news. These are the same people who when their football team is loosing 3 nil start cheering for the other side.

We disagree with the result and will continue to exercise our democratic rights to overturn it.

Just as the brexiters campaigned for 40 years to leave the EU we will carry on campaigning to stay/ rejoin the EU.I want brexit to fail so it destroys the tory party.

I have no objection to you disagreeing with the outcome of the election or you voicing your opinion that the majority of the country got it wrong. I do object however to you fear mongering to get your own way. That's undemocratic and a soft way of saying "telling lies"

As for "I want Brexit to fail so it destroys the Tory Party" isn't that one of the ways I defined Remainers.

Maybe the UK should first exit the 19th century & the Tory Hiso party, before exiting anything else.

And let that be a very hard exit.

Do you, aright, realy feel you have something in common with Boris and that other upper class twit (I forget his name, but he can pronounce Difficult Words without any hesitation, wink wink nudge nudge)?

And a European import tax on Monty Python sketches, is that what we really want?

A tax on your Benny Hill and Coronation Street, I could live with though.

Brexit has been a disaster right from the start.

Nobody wants this situation aside from the hard right of the Tory Party.

No one would have voted yes if they had known the true cost.

How many of the brexiteers still think they can have their cake and eat it.

The UK government said as recently as September that it wants to remain inside Europol and retain other EU security benefits such as the European Arrest Warrant and shared criminal databases.

But outlining the consequences of Brexit on defence and security, Mr Barnier said Britain would no longer be a member, adding that the UK would be leaving the European Defence Agency and that UK defence ministers and ambassadors would be excluded from international meetings with EU colleagues.
