webfact
Meet the Billionaires of Thailand's Red Bull Fortune By Sterling Wong Bloomberg - Booming segment creates $45 billion of individual net worth - The brand accounts for 87% of world’s energy-drink billions The 24-mile leap from the edge of space to the sands of New Mexico was vintage Red Bull. With logos emblazoned across the skydiver’s spacesuit, helmet and parachute, the 844 mile-per-hour (1,358 kilometer-per-hour) freefall played out in 13 minutes of heart-stopping videostreamed live on the Internet. It was the kind of stunt that’s helped leave 11 surviving family members of reclusive Thai entrepreneur and sometime duck farmer Chaleo Yoovidhya with collective wealth of $22 billion, the world’s largest fortune from energy drinks, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. While the relatives live well, “they do not brag about it,” said Yupana Wiwattanakantang, associate professor at the National University of Singapore’s Business School. Yoovidhya “set the tone being humble and modest.” Full story: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-24/red-bull-fuels-extreme-wealth-with-11-billionaires-in-thailand -- Bloomberg 2016-10-

Deli
It's the Austrian guy who made the brand, not the founders, though both are loaded like hell. And one of them definitely should burn in the same.

Not taking anything away from them. It appears a successful partnership. Quote Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz was inspired by an existing energy drink named Krating Daeng, which was first introduced and sold in Thailand by Chaleo Yoovidhya Unlike another red who was said to have shafted his western partner. klauskunkel
From the article: Succession at Red Bull GmbH is also a concern, according to National University of Singapore’s Wiwattanakantang, where Mateschitz has led the marketing effort and the Yoovidhya heirs “haven’t shown the ability to do that so far.” they must have other priorities - play, sanook, kill a policeman, fun, evade justice, party... performance
Yes and we need to clarify as this article is false. RED BULL is not owned by Thailand. Although they like to advertise it. They own only the distribution rights here. They did not invent anything. Thais are great at talking and selling. They Mai Dai invent.

dotpoom
Amazes me every time a story like this comes up, one could bet one's life on it that practically every post will be written as if the writer knew something that practically everybody in Thailand doesn't know already. Nothing original, just same old same old. Grow up.....this is the real world we live in and it has been going on for centuries.

I am not trying to insult anyone but just because something has been "going on for centuries" doesn't make it right or imply that it has to continue. My belief is that if someone complains about something they believe is wrong there is no guarantee that it will change for the better. On the other hand, if they don't complain then it is almost guaranteed that nothing will change.

Red Bull drink is not available in Thailand. .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................... "Red Bull The Thai product is a different company from the global brand Red Bull as formulated by Dietrich Mateschitz, an Austrian entrepreneur.[6] Mateschitz was the internationalmarketing director for Blendax, a German toothpaste company, when he visited Thailand in 1982 and discovered that Krating Daeng helped to cure his jet lag.[7] He worked with Chaleo's T.C. Pharmaceuticals to adapt the formula and composition to Western tastes.[8] Red Bull was launched in 1987. The two companies are often mistaken for each other, but they are separate entities focusing on different target markets, Red Bull the high end and Krating Daeng the low end.[citation needed] Today, Red Bull GmbH is 51 percent controlled by the Yoovidhya family, who own the trademark for the drink in Europe and the United States of America.[2] Wikipedia.
