The 24-mile leap from the edge of space to the sands of New Mexico was vintage Red Bull.

 

With logos emblazoned across the skydiver’s spacesuit, helmet and parachute, the 844 mile-per-hour (1,358 kilometer-per-hour) freefall played out in 13 minutes of heart-stopping videostreamed live on the Internet.

 

It was the kind of stunt that’s helped leave 11 surviving family members of reclusive Thai entrepreneur and sometime duck farmer Chaleo Yoovidhya with collective wealth of $22 billion, the world’s largest fortune from energy drinks, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

 

While the relatives live well, “they do not brag about it,” said Yupana Wiwattanakantang, associate professor at the National University of Singapore’s Business School. Yoovidhya “set the tone being humble and modest.”

I was going to state the same thing. Without his influence, it likely would not have grown to such dizzy heights.

Not taking anything away from them. It appears a successful partnership.

Yes and we need to clarify as this article is false. RED BULL is not owned by Thailand. Although they like to advertise it. They own only the distribution rights here. They did not invent anything. Thais are great at talking and selling. They Mai Dai invent.

They do not own RED BULL. LOL They only own distribution rights in Thailand. Yes Thais love fizzy drinks. There not smart about health. They made big bucks selling that poison.

Amazes me every time a story like this comes up, one could bet one's life on it that practically every post will be written as if the writer knew something that practically everybody in Thailand doesn't know already. I am not trying to insult anyone but just because something has been "going on for centuries" doesn't make it right or imply that it has to continue.  My belief is that if someone complains about something they believe is wrong there is no guarantee that it will change for the better.  On the other hand, if they don't complain then it is almost guaranteed that nothing will change.

The Yoovidhya family owns Krating Daeng, a completely separate Thai operation from Dietrich Mateschitz's RedBull corporation based  in Austria.

Yoovidhya family has 51% interest in Red bull.  Red Bull drink is not available in Thailand.
