Where for mid-range furniture (new) in CM?

Need to replace the couch in the house I am leasing. The house came furnished so it the owner's couch but I hate it and I am willing to replace it since I'll probably be here at a couple of years more. Looking mid-range price for just a couch. Less than 25,000 Bt. Found one I liked at Index for about 20k. Wondering about any recommendations for other stores in the area that sell mid-range furniture that may give a better deal than Index.

I was recently looking for furniture also and it didn't take long to realise I was a snob.

The tat  (English for sh1t)out there being sold to everyone who has bought a box condo or new moo baan house of cards  by Index; Koncept is shameful. I called at that big orange box place opposite Tesco on the Hand Dong road....I was in,  walked around and scanned everything in 5 minutes and was  out again vowing never to buy anything from a place like that.

that' sounds all a bit negative doesnt it.?

Well, what I have found in that mid/acceptable range though highly likely not be issued with a fire certificate is the new place called Perfect furniture mall.

only been open a year, on the road from the BigC/Homepro at hang dong and then down towards Global on the left just before the river bridge.

i have been in there 3 times to scout about. it has all types of furniture, lounge suites/ kids bedrooms/beds/office furniture/dining tables/wardrobes.

There is the main hall of your average stuff but also so independent manufacturers are showing their wares.and for beds and wardrobes I am talking dogs boxloxs for hand crafted wood.

The traditional Louis 14 french style is very Thai trad now for the hisos.

Settees a bit 80/90s styles when I see the  corner units, and typical leather suites but hey Thailand is in a time warp with most things.....I was behind a Ford Escort mark 1 today and itching to look inside.

ok so Perfect Furniture well worth a look imo

Don't poo poo the settee and sofa places at the entrance to the Home Pro. I have never actually stopped to browse but  you can see they are not top quality and there will not command a top price.

my personal favourite is to find the factories that make all this furniture.i mean the local factories. I have seen craftsmen sitting and carving, painting, upholstering the most ornate furniture you see and at prices less you see in the furniture stores. Ban Tawai/Borsang/ Ban Thi  but I like real wood.

good luck with what you find.

Agree with eyecatcher regarding outside the entrance to Home Pro (Hang Dong/Outer ring road).  We've seen some sofas there, but did not notice the pricing.

They have a very good range of leather sofas & chairs. We looked at large sofas for about 40k baht.

Several years ago we bought a pocket spring fabric sofa from this shop which is still going strong(ish)...

I am also looking for reasonable quality furniture ... has anybody knowledge of a company by the name of Indochine ?

They have an extensive web site with a seemingly huge range of styles ... according to their web site they are located in Mae On district ... a google map search shows a large lumber yard ?

Large lumbar yard is correct.  They also do luxury house construction so have a lumbar yard, kiln, lots of reclaimed stuff, as well as the factory/showroom for manufacture/display.

Have been round there once and sorry did not look at prices.  Was assisting a friend building in Borsang .....he was spending some 10 million plus on house cosntruction and fitting it out. ...

It was all really nice furntiure...but if we are calling Index, Koncept, Home Pro mid range this was certainly a class well above.  They do a LOT of exporting to Europe and US...cannot say that for the others

I will  second  trainman's recommendation for  shopping in Lamphun.  There is a large area which is devoted to furniture making and sales.  Some of the  warehouses there have their  own factories  at the rear  of the building.  The quality was good and the prices  reasonable.  One time we ordered  furniture and were shocked to have it arrive  before we got home.
