Action after ballot surprise indicates a robust political system: observers

BANGKOK: -- DEMONSTRATIONS IN cities across the US that followed the election of billionaire Donald Trump as the country’s next president are proof that democracy is still working in the most powerful country in the world, say observers.

The observers also stressed that marchers were disagreeing with Trump’s ideology and policies and by no means were they trying to take the president-elect down.

The comments came in response to an ongoing political phenomenon in the US where anti-Trump protests broke out after his election victory.

Protesters burned a giant effigy of an orange-haired Trump and set fires and blocked traffic late Wednesday as rage over the billionaire’s election victory spilled onto the streets of US cities.

Right before the election the Press was posting warnings that angry white Trump supporters would very likely riot when he lost because thats the kind of deplorable behavior we can mexpect of Trump fans...now when large gangs of hillary fans have instead taken to the streets violently and physically assaulted  Trump supporters and lit fires the Press calls it signs of a healthy democracy.

I have to hand it to Trump--he had the main stream press against him the whole way and hillary outspent him 250% but he still won!

The man gets things done and thats what America needs.

That's about as dysfunctional as its possible to get without dying.  A democracy that selects (not elects) only 2 serious candidates for presidency, both of whom are eminently unsuitable and both of whom are divisive in the extreme. It's a short step from here to russian-style democracy.

If the majority of the people are like me they're voting for the party and it's general policies and beliefs rather than the individual who is to lead the country, so it doesn't just come down to two candidates.

I'd also like to add that I'd charge any US citizens burning the flag with treason.

A long way to go before we see a "NALSA" (None of the Above, Let's Start Again) candidate winning any election.

Regarding the first paragraph, absolutely right. A fine example of double standards.

EXACTLY  the point I made on another thread! What a bunch of hypocrites! This election has really shown up just how loony the left has become. I used to consider myself a liberal but  I dont know what it means anymore......though I gotta say, I am REALLY enjoying watching them all cry into their Fruit Loops.

Double standard. Same as violence at Trump's rallies. Why was that? Because the Dems hatched a plot to blacken Trump. Glad they got their comeuppance. Well deserved.

The constitution supports the right of Americans to burn the flag.

JT,

Perhaps you can offer me some insight into why Liberals hate America so much.

Why do they refuse to sing the National Anthem and say the pledge of allegiance and take such perverse pleasure in burning the American flag?

I guess its probably the same reason they are throwing this current temper tantrum riot in the streets?

Republicans feel fortunate to belong to such a great Nation. Liberals give the impression they hate the place if they do not get their way...alot like children.

I hope the protests never stop until the fascist is out of office. I for one refuse to recognize him as my president, dictator maybe, but never president. While we all will reap the whirlwind, I hope the misguided uninformed electorate learn a lesson. Oh hell, they haven't learned anything since the Reagan regime.

I am happy the world is seeing this wan't a normal election and that a huge segment of Americans are horrified that the mentally ill, no experience, sleazeball con man has been elected to the most powerful office on the planet. But realistically there is no basis to kick him out of office with street protests and that will never happen.

Over time I expect some resistance leaders to emerge to help focus the resistance energy in a productive way. But lots of patience will be needed and wins will be small and rare at best. But we've had these struggles before. Eyes on the prize.

JT, you need a rest. You are starting to confuse real life with a Star Wars movie.

I am still wonder how Obama was elected for a 2nd term after the way he and Clinton tried to cover up Benghazi

They were blowing their horns saying what a wonderful job they had done by getting rid of Gadaffi when the attack occurred so they blamed it on a video that hadn't even been seen in the country.

Not only had Chris Steven begged them for additional security because of the unrest but as it turns out he actually asked to come home but Obama and Clinton that would have been admitting defeat

So Chris Steven Sean Smith Glen Doherty and Tyrone Wood lost their lives. Their friends Kris (TANTO) Paronto, Mark "Oz" Geist and John "Tig" Teigen will leave you in no doubt who they blame.

Whether Hillary Clinton using her private server being hacked or not tipped off the terrorist that security is weak or not is unknown but no way should she even have used one.

She lied her face off again to the American people as Jim Comey confirmed but then it comes to light that Obama knew and he also lied.

So what else did they lie about? like how much of $1.7 billion actually ended up in Iran and how much went astray.

You don't need to be a genius to figure out the pay for play that was going on. Nor do you need to be haitian to work out money disappeared left right and centre.

So the media set out to cover it all up and pivot to a Trump tape and  accusers in an effort to get Clinton elected,

Trump states Illegal among the illegal immigrants coming in from Mexico there are rapist drug dealers and murderers and they jump om it in a flash and brand him a racists...........Then when he wants to vet all muslims to try and keep Isis out and keep all Americans safe many of whom are Muslim he's again a racists.............pure and utter drivel from a biased media desperate to make sure he is not elected

They simply didn't bank on Trump outsmarting them and playing them at their own game. It was so blatantly obvious the media were biased he turned his supporters dead against them and Clinton with 2 simple words.......Crooked and Rigged.

Trump win and riots start..........3 days not a sign of Obama or Clinton telling supporters to go home....They will do soon I suppose.

Now it is expected OBama will pardon Hillary if she gets indicted and convicted.

If that does happen I expect the riots will be 10 times worse if once again they are seen to be above the law

No worries with Trump he'll do what he said he was going to do or most of it and I can see him becoming one of the most popular presidents of all time.

Meanwhile Democrats are drowning their sorrows and getting therapy by dog cuddling chocolate eating sessions and watching hydrogen filled blue coloured party balloons float off into the sunset

I remember years ago when people got the right to burn the flag. A group of university punk sickos were getting ready to have a flag burning party. They were then surrounded by a group of patriotic veterans who told them to go ahead and see what happens. They disbanded and the flag wes retrieved by the patriots. That was before the government supported the anarchists. The ignorant kids are really not to blame. They are being taught by commie socialist teacher who are protected  and encouraged by our socialist government. Hopefully the schools and universities will be given to the states. No more BS tenure for disgusting teachers.

The protests show two things. 1/ Protesters are able to exercise there democratic rights to protest.

2/ There are a lot of sore losers who did not exercise there democratic right to vote.  :coffee1:

You can check out Donald Trump’s Twitter feed in 2012, where he called for people to take to the streets in a revolution. These tweets have now been deleted, as reported by the Verge.
