Instead of discarding the 'old' to make room for the 'new',fear fused the two together,like saplings from two different trees....nurtured and evolved over centuries and growing into one massive philosophical,cultural root-system and shade-provider now known as Thai-Buddhism.

 

This narrative is necessarily over-simplified in form but not so much in content.

And for those of us who remain perplexed,disgusted,amused or just plain damned mystified from the forms and expressions of "magic-mindedness" encounter here on a daily basis.....well,then may the above be taken as a small clue to why 2+2=5.... in the Land of Smiles.
