There is no such thing as a sponsored visa to the US. That category was done away with many, many years ago. No amount of money from the third party can insure a visa, unless it is a marriage visa, or you are a specialist, applying for a work visa, and you fit into the quota, and have both experience and a degree in that respective field.

It is very difficult for the average Thai to get a visa to visit the US. She should be no exception.

Yes and under the Donald it will be a heck of a lot harder.

Well on the typical visa exemption on arrival that many casual tourists use for short term visits, money is rarely asked for or checked

On the other hand, try to work in Thailand as she will be in America.

It seems some guys here are saying they have had trouble getting visas for their Thai wives to visit the states with them. I thought if she's your wife (you being American) then she automatically gets to enter the states. Huh?

Don't think so. Thai wives of U.S. citizens have to go thru the same tourist visa application process as everyone else.

I'm sure being in a settled marriage and having a long-term residence in Thailand helps in consideration of the application. But Thai wives do and can get denied.

BTW, we're talking about short-term tourist or similar NON-immigrant visas here.

Getting permission for a Thai wife to permanently move to the U.S. on an immigrant/spouse visa is an entirely different process, and that's the one that typically involves many months of processing time.

My wife got a 10 yr visa to the usa without any issues.  we brought in a stack of paper work, and they didnt even review.  As we made a lot of effort and spent money on tranalating docements etc etc I was a bit surprised.  the io said to me, she is your wife, if she wants to imigrate, there isnt anything we can do to prevent that from happening.

I was really surprised by how care free they were about the process, and she got a 10 year visa.

I'm assuming that was some years back. Because, in recent years, AFAIK, husbands and other companions are not even allowed inside the Embassy/Consulate building when their wife goes for their tourist visa interview.

I thought someone still had to say they would be responsible for any debt the visitor racks up.

For tourist visas, the applicant in theory has to be able to show sufficient funds for her travel/trip expenses, either from herself or from others.

For an immigrant/spousal visa, I believe the husband has to make a legal commitment that the immigrating spouse will not use/rely on public support, and the husband has to show sufficient income to support the spouse.

She just said something really bad about the people of Issan last night. I will not comment what its about. If you understand Thai, You can look up the videos and her facebook yourself. Now the whole of Thailand is coming down hard on her for her derogatory comments.

She has no job, no money, is on a Creditcard blacklist and was obviously planning to work as a paid speaker in violation of the terms of a  B1 visit visa which would permit attendance at a conference, business meetings with customers or affiliated organisations but not paid performances or speeches.

The US embassy did absolutely the right thing in denying her a visa.

here she is explaining her visa situation and her comments on the video clip that cause an outcry on Thai social media now.

You can go to Best Oraphim her Facebook to see the comments on her now as well.

Very much against her.

If I understood her correctly she said the comments about Isaan people ocurred last year during a speech she was asked to give to Mahasarakham University students.  In that clip she seemed to be condescendingly accusing Isaan people of being ingrates and reminded them of their traditional obligations towards Nation, Religion and Monarchy as Thai citizens. She claimed that clip was taken out of context and that anyone who heard the full 90 minutes of her pep talk to the students would have understood that she was not really insulting Isaan people.

She seems to imply that the American Embassy would also understand her better on her repeat application when she will submit more complete documentation. She did not explain how she will obtain documents to show that she has a proper job paying an acceptable monthly income that would incentivise her to return to Thailand instead of staying on illegally in the US to work as a dishwasher or a hooker.

it is actually a myth that more documents will help revive failed visa applications. US consular officials have a minimum daily quota of visa interviews to make which doesn't allow them to spend more than about 3 minutes on each case. This doesn't give them enough time to look at the supplementary documents like land title deeds that some applicants submit. They just look at the form and basic documents like that employment letter and bak books. This also helps to explain why having a job with a certain salary is so imporyant and some wealthy Hisos without regular jobs get erroneously rejected.

In her case, getting more complete documents should involve spending at least a year working in a proper job with s decent salary and having savings of a few hundred thousand baht  in a bank book that have been there for at least six months.

I am very doubtful that any Western embassies go to the trouble of obtaining Credit Bureau information on visa applicants. That would far too much trouble and probably an invasion of privacy for information that adds very little to an employment letter and bank books.

Anyway Thais in the US can be grateful that the US government had spared them a letter from a very irritating and conceited  young woman who appears to lack  any intellectual substance.

Be real interesting to find out, after all of this, if she actually ends up making it to speak at the U.S. events in early December...

Will the U.S. Embassy/Consulate stick by its rules, or, will someone somewhere end up making a phone call that somehow ends up in someone changing their minds to issue her a visa?

Time will tell just how it goes! Can't wait to hear/see the result.

Suspect her political activities might have had an influence on the decision?

The Thai "government" could request a visa on her behalf; she seems to be "working" on their behalf on the domestic front.

Interesting that the video is from January (I think) and has just been leaked.
