how many pages do you need left in passport?

Just sent my passport off to thai immigration in phnom penh for a 60 day thai visa.   The Thai Immigration just informed me I do not have enough pages in my passport.  I have 3 blank pages left. 

I thought it was 2?

 

Can anyone verify this?

I assume you mean the Thai embassy consular section. There are no Thai immigration offices outside of the country.

There is no fixed number of pages needed. Most are satisfied if you have a full page to put the visa sticker on and enough room for departure and entry stamps.

Are you sure the blank pages are visa pages. Many have pages at the back of the passport for endorsement, annotations and etc. The last 3 pages in my passport has endorsements printed on them.

Interesting, I am not sure if that is what it was.  They did look like the same as the others in my passport.  However, they are the last 3 pages.  I will get my passport back tomorrow.   

 

When you say "endorsement" , what exactly do you mean?  I thought all pages in the passport could be used for stamps/visas.

Last week in Phnom Penh my friend used an agent to receive a visa in a totally full USA passport. The agent called to confirm before taking the passport. The passport only had the 3 blank pages at the back marked for endorsement. The visa was stamped to the first page.

nice, I think I used the wrong agent it seems.. I am in siem reap at the moment.  humm,  After looking at more research.. Looks like maybe my passport is full.  I didnt think all 3 were used for any additional changes

Looks like a new passport and traveling to phnom penh at this point is my only way out.

Most pages will say visas on it somewhere. On mine it says visas at the top of the page and endorsements on the side of those pages.

my the electronic Australian passport with an embedded chip has 34 pages with only three empty ones left (32 ,33 and 34 at the very back of the passport)

it doesn't say visas or endorsements or anything on any of them but there is a blank page at the front of the passport entitled " observations ". Will I be safe to rely on being able to use the final 3 blank pages ?

Are you saying none of the pages other than the one that says endorsements does not have anything printed on them?

If they don't have anything printed on them they should be OK.

Ill look at it tomorrow and report back.  I dont believe I have the 52 page book..  Nonetheless, it is time or is coming time to get a new one. 

 

I just was not wanting to go to pp myself to the us embassy.  its 2 weeks til theres even an appointment to get a new book.

 

im assuming thailand wont let me in the ctry as well on the US arrival visa under these circumstances?

If you have space on a page for a entry stamp you will not have a problem entering Thailand.

You will get a 52 page passport that is all they issue at embassies.

Thanks buddy, yea been to bkk embassy many times.  It is so much easier to access, make appts, etc than pp. 

 

Might use this option instead of going to pp.

Australian passports do not have the word 'visa' printed on the visa pages, however, each visa page has a number (1 - up to 69).  All other pages, not for visas, are clearly marked ('Security Information,' 'Passport,' 'Observations,' 'Notice' and, at the back of the passport, 'Important Information').  The middle pages, where the security chip is located, are marked 'Chip Centre Page.  Do Not Stamp This Page.'

u were exactly right, ubon joe.. i was ignorant on this.. my last 3 pages are only used for endorsements.  i just recently got an extension in cambodia.  which they just put over another page in the earlier part of my book.  Thai said nada.. at any rate.  I need a new passport anyways and will got to pp to get it done.   Thanks for your supporting comments.

Sometimes the embassy or consulate of your country can add some emergency extra pages for a quick use and In meantime Issue a new passport book expiring the same date of the old one. This makes the procedure very fast being like a duplicate, not a  reIssue.

I got a Thai tourist visa in Hong Kong last Tuesday, my UK passport had 2 sides left.

It also had I think 8 prior Thai visas in plus visas for Lao and a load of visa exempts covering the 3 years that it took me to fill it up.

If you had read the entire topic you would noticed he was in  Siem Reap and was trying to get his visa through an agent.

As far as I know no country adds pages to passports now. The last one to do it was the US and they stopped doing it the first day of this year.

Sorry, I was a little vague on my response.  I am in Siem Reap at the moment and was trying to get a 60 day tourist visa.  I had no idea about the endorsement pages due to my own ignorance.  I still have about 2 good months left on my Cambodian visa.  At this point,  it looks like my passport is full and I need to go to the us embassy in phnom penh and just get a new one.  Not really excited about it,  PP is not my #1 vacation spot.   Just get it done.. Thks for all the responses here

I cannot verify how many pages you have left in your pass but there's no such thing as not enough. One page is enough.

sorry to beat a dead horse here ubonjoe.  couldnt verify this info on here.  Idk if u know this information or not but thought I would give it a shot because I am trying to do some planning. 

 

As far as getting a new or renewing an old US passport because it is full;  Does it actually take 10 working days as stated on the US Embassy website to get this done?

Embassy website states about two weeks to get the passport. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/adult-passport-renew/

People have reported getting them in a week. Ten days is about the average I would say.

Always question. I overstayed my Thai Visa once, by less than 12 Hours due to a holiday, I had to leave & return. I chose to fly to Siam Reap, as it was the only flight available. Spent a day on the bus to Phnom Penn, the following day I checked for chatter about the Thai visa section there. I saw many comments stating that the Thai visa section would deny a visa for the slightest excuse, however you can give money to the guard at the gate, and the following day you could pick up your passport with the proper visa attached. I did not bother to try it as I realized I had a multiple entry visa. The Immigration official at the Thai/Cambodia border told me she did not know why the BKK immigration official was so "mean".

I have learned when doing business at any Thai government Office it is best to wear long pants and a button up shirt. I recalled when I first was "overstayed" I was wearing shorts & t-shirt...
