Lashio's University I think construction activities have not yet completed.

I like the design. You can look 'through' the building and see the mountains behind.

Then my driver continued and we went to his hometown. He introduced me to many members of his (extende) family). Quite an experience.

The next pictures are unique in the sense that this is not a touristique destination.

It was very interesting to see how his family was living. Not sure how the relations between him and all the people on the pictures were.

I think it's called 'tanaka'.

That helped to look it up!! Thanks Halfaboy!

"What is Thanaka?
Thanaka is a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark. It is a distinctive feature of Myanmar (formerly Burma) seen commonly applied to the face and sometimes the arms of women and girls and to a lesser extent men and boys. The use of thanaka has also spread to neighboring countries including Thailand."

In addition to your tanaka info I would like to share some nice pictures showig a little lady who's face had a make-up with tanaka.

Visit Lisu village.

After having said farewell to the extended family we continued our way to a village further outside Lashio. It was a village inhabited by people originating from China and belonging to the Lisu. The reason why they (not too long ago) migrated was not clear to me. They were mainly farmers and some of them did very well. It was a completely different world and it looked as if had had stepped back in time.

Hope you enjoy.

One thing that struck me, was how weed free,  people kept their land and gardens, pretty much anywhere!  That's a good example ^^^
