BANGKOK: -- The Ratchayothin flyover bridge will be closed for another week as of 10 pm Tuesday night until December 6 for traffic condition assessment before the demolition of the bridge.

The bridge was earlier closed from November 22 to November 28 by the order of the traffic problem steering sub-committee.

During the closure of the flyover bridge, three left lanes of the Ratchayothin road will be open to traffic from 5 am to 10 pm and the lanes will be reduced to two from 10 pm to 5 am of the following day.

The subcommittee will meet on December 6 to make assessment of traffic condition.

What a farce. Months, if not years to prepare for the construction in this area, and then they cant even follow a scheduled permanent closure of the flyover stated as being LAST Saturday. Clueless clowns.

I will be truly amazed if the construction and opening of this section of the BTS' dark green line is not less than 3 years after the originally stated completion date. Traffic congestion in the Ratchayothin area to continue for the next 7 or 8 years is a more realistic outcome.

This is a horrible mess. This junction has always been very badly managed by the traffic police. It is now a nightmare and will be for several years I'm afraid.
