Handmade pottery

Featured Replies

I'm looking for one-of-a kind eccentric pottery with Japanese influence.  Are there any individual artists with shops in Chiang Mai?

There used to be a place up near Chiang Rai. Try posting in the Chiang Rai forum and see if anyone has the details. (Bigger pieces as I remember, like pots and vases)

Not in CM but there is a place in Chatuchak market that makes great one off handmade bowls/mugs etc

The pottery used at Ruen Tamarind Restaurant is from Doi Din Dang in Chiang Rai (ดอยดินแดง), maybe that’s the one you’re thinking of?

This is neither celadon or chinaware (the former being the most common around Chiang Mai, and I assume when you say “Japanese influences” it’s because you want something more rustic / with an earthenware kind of feel).

Googling Doi Din Dang, I think the pottery I saw at Ruen Tamarind Restaurant was nicer than what I see online, so maybe go to the restaurant and check it out for yourself. Most likely the set was custom made for this restaurant, and if you want one-of-a-kind you should just have a set custom made as well.

Yep that's the place
