PHUKET:-- An American man, who returned to the United States in 2013 after allegedly extorting a fellow countryman in Phuket, was flown back to Thailand, escorted by Royal Thai Police officers, this morning.

“The suspect, named Shawn Abraham, was handed over to Royal Thai Police to face legal charges in Thailand as per an arrest warrant issued against him on February 13, 2015, which included charges of robbery, extortion, detainment, confinement and threatening another person,” said Lt Col Ason Jiraksa of Kamala Police.

The original complaint was filed on December 14, 2013, by another American national named Antonio Mario Adoniro. Mr Abraham was accused of extorting 30,000 baht and attempting to extort a further US$2 million in cash and belongings.

Too bad the bib do not spend the same effort to get the monk who laundered all the funds, had sex with chilren, bought a nice jet plane , etc. sent back from the usa.  He is in plain sight on the west coast, but no one in Thailand seems to want him here to press charges or give statements .

Maybe they are happy pocketing the bail money instead.

i can't think of anything worse than being extradited back to Thaliand face 'justice'. Except maybe just being thrown in the slam there in the first place...

PHUKET: A Florida man was taken into custody upon his arrival in Bangkok today (Dec 2) after being extradited from the US on charges issued in Phuket back in 2014 for the kidnapping of a fellow American in 2013.

In February 2015, Shawn Abraham Shaw, 43, was fighting extradition to Thailand on kidnapping and extortion charges brought by another American said to have strong ties to senior Thai officials.

Shaw, 43, denied the charges, saying the alleged victim laid a complaint with Thai authorities after the pair had a falling-out in Phuket over a business deal.

Then one month later, in March 2015, Shaw maintained his innocence of the charges brought against him by Thai authorities. His defence lawyer says the charges were laid after a business deal went sour.

Very surprising that the US would comply so easily with this Thai extradition order without further investigation

Very surprising that the US would comply so easily with this Thai extradition order without further investigation

It has taken 1.5 years, what was easy about it?

Sent from my ROBBY using Thaivisa Connect mobile app

Nothing was mentioned about the US Authority conducting its own investigation before approving the extradition unless a swap deal was done!!?

We don't know that there hasn't been 'further Investigation.'

I doubt a request was Issued and he was extradited within days.

Just hope  this guy spends some time in a Thai prison and gets to

enjoy some quality rice meals until he is totally a Thin Tim.

Maybe USA has a new Thai guy who was also sent to that country as a swap

so they can also give him some USA justice, who knows?

Geezer

What happened to "good guys in - bad guys out?"  Why is this guy allowed back in?

Who says he is guilty of kidnapping. The report does say that the accuser has  'Strong ties with senior officials'.

I guess this is another testimony of how a business could end in disaster here.

This is not enough info to post such an article. Just a head scratcher. Smells like dirty moneys been changing hands though.

"strong ties to senior Thai officials"

says it all really......

Maybe the deputies want to show their new boss to be that they are doing their job so they don't get FIRED,

Says it all if you can believe the press, but as we've seen, they get it so wrong, so often, yet still get paid every month.

Unfortunately, we're all similar in that we believe the press when it fits with our preconceived ideas.
