Obama orders review of election-season hacking

Russia has been hacking the USA since 2008, well that is about the time that Obama starting running for president.  Now he has waited 8 years to conduct an investigation with results, for what?  I suppose like ISIS, the screw ups in Yemen, Syria and Libya and being slapped around by China and Russia across the globe....put it all on the next presidents plate.  How many days does this lame duck have left in office?  Good riddance, time for the world to move on from this dark period of time.

"A little self-awareness would do for a team that is blaming everybody but themselves for this. It’s Bernie Sanders’ fault … It’s the alt-right’s fault," she said. "It’s … fake news’ fault. It’s Russian interference. It’s James Comey. ... How about you had no message?"  Kelly Ann Conway

Kelly Ann explains it well for a thin skinned president that sees his non "legacy"  sliding away, and had the audacity to back a criminal for his replacement.

The White House said it would make portions of the report public and would brief lawmakers and relevant state officials on the findings.  Yep here we go again portions of the report.  They can not release the whole thing and increase their creditably.  By the way were any of the E mails false or were they true ones that showed what was happening by those who were trying to get us to vote for them.  Of course what they say in public is a bit different.

You are aware of why they can't release the entire report?  It contains the methods they used to find the hacking.  Technology they don't want outsiders to know or they'll develop methods to subvert them.  Makes sense.

That's one of the problems with Wikileaks.  Is all the info real or not?  Few know the answer.

Would a review have been ordered if Hillary had won?

I would think that regardless of who won the hacking would be revealed. That any Foreign Country can covertly undermine your electoral Process is forboding. Nations should be allowed to decide their own future direction. Sadly the major player whether through Proxy or direct intervention will not allow smaller players their own destiny. But now it is the big boys poking their fingers in to their adversaries pies.

What is the saying. "Keep you friends close and your enemies closer"

Er, Uh, I think you're forgetting that it was Hillary who sold Russia 20% of America's uranium. Hillary made 100's of millions of dollars between the time Bill was POTUS and this election, much of it while she was Secretary of State.

It was Hillary who was doing big biz with Russia.

Hillary is the most corrupt person ever to run for POTUS.

Cheers.

Are you saying Hillary personally made 100's of millions of dollars after Bill left the office?  I don't think so.

"the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction."

No, Bush and Cheney are no longer in government.

They were the ones who asserted with no uncertainty that Iraq was actively pursuing nuclear weapons, concealing a vast chemical and biological weapons arsenal, and posing an immediate and grave threat to US national security.

The CIA as we know now that " it lacked 'specific information' on 'many key aspects' of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction programs." That's not the message Bush could use to justify an invasion so he invented his own story. Congress eventually concluded that President Bush's claims about Iraq's WMD program were not supported by the underlying intelligence reporting.

As an adjunct Bush also ignored the conclusions of the Director General of the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei and that of former director Hans Blix, after a U.N. weapons inspection in Iraq, that an invasion of Iraq was not justified.

Apparently some people did not feel they got enough arguments in before the election, unfortunately most do not agree.   The next off-topic post will earn a suspension and those that follow will also.   The topic is not about Hillary Clinton.   It's not even really about Donald Trump.   It's about a review of the election.

This is the last and final public warning.

Not so sure the story will end there.  But with Trump. Who knows! LOL

The Democrats are trying to give it legs but the Republicans lead by Trump are making some comparison which I could not comprehend to the Iraqi war which we all know was Bush's fiasco. I understand that some Iraqi woman (God bless her) has filed charges against Bush and his cabal at the time instigating war crimes and she has (miracle of miracles) gotten it to the hearing stage before a judge. (These criminals walk among us) They may be hope for justice (of any kind) yet.

The investigation is looking at Russian hacking going back as far as 2008 so it is not specifically about the election, however that is obviously the focus.  Given the choice obviously Putin would sooner have a fool as POTUS then someone switched on and savvy.  No brainer then that he helps Trump.

What exactly do they hope to find?

Are they suggesting that the Russians are so good at hacking that they've been doing it for years and no one noticed?

Has any actual prove been provided - other than from the ubiquitous anonymous sources saying vague comments?

Election hacking would have been harmless if the hacked side didn't have any harmful secrets in the first place.

Many times, they have secrets for a good reason.  Strategies, talking points, etc.  Things the opposition should not see.  So no, hacking is not harmless.  Plus, it's illegal. For good reasons.

This statement was made in early October.  When Hillary was in the lead.  So, must be some truth to the hacking accusations.  And yes, they've been doing it for years and everybody knows.  Many articles about this on the internet.

“The U.S. Intelligence Community is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from U.S. persons and institutions, including from U.S. political organizations,” said a joint statement from the two agencies. “. . . These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the U.S. election process.”

.........

The DNC publicly disclosed the intrusions in June, saying its investigation determined that Russian government hackers were behind the breach.
