Power and water supplies to Wat Dhammakaya may be cut

BANGKOK: -- More pressure is to be applied on Wat Dhammakaya with the possibility that power and water supplies to the temple may be cut off.

Pol Gen Srivara Rangseepromnakul, the deputy national police chief, had a meeting with Mr Sermsakul Klaikaew, governor of Provincial Electricity Authority, reportedly to discuss the possibility of cutting off power supply to Wat Dhammakaya on the ground that the temple had allegedly committed a series of violations against the Industrial Works, Environment and Public Health acts regarding illegal construction of buildings and other structures.

It was reported that police were also coordinating with the Provincial Waterworks Authority about cutting off water supply to the temple.

Pol Gen Srivara called an urgent meeting with the police, officials of the Department of Special Investigation and the military at Klong Luang district police in Pathum Thani. No details of the meeting were available at press time.

Tens of thousands of followers of the Dhammakaya sect have been keeping vigil at the temple purportedly to protect Phra Dhammachayo from being arrested.

Meanwhile, the Sikhiew provincial court in Nakhon Ratchasima on Thursday issued another search warrant as requested by the Crime Suppression Division police for allegedly dredging an artesian well without permission.

So much for the police listening to Mr. Article 44 to hush all police operations regarding this temple. God, I love this place! :giggle:

The back up generators are primed and ready to go.......and bottled water doesn't taste all that bad!

Possibilities, maybes etc etc BUT actual action ?

Wasn't this suggested weeks ago ?

And now it MAY be cut, meaning it will not.

Yawn, it may snow overnight in Thailand also

Once again let's announce to everybody what we are going to (maybe) do.

Give a person in power (or who thinks they're important) a microphone and an audience, and they can talk for hours. Even when the audience is talking amongst themselves and clearly not listening, the person with the microphone will keep on spouting nonsense.

This is why I avoid meetings whenever I can.

What happened to the promised "D-day" ?

I doubt this action can withstand a legal challenge.

The alleged illegal construction of buildings and other structures would require another judicial due process before action of any kind can occur. Even if the court sustains the authorities on the issue, the remedy is to remove the illegal structures.

But in the short-term more delay and distraction from the real issue of arresting the abbot will only further obstruct the RTP from doing its duty.  I'm sure RTP will appreciate the distraction.

If cutting power and water supplies still don't dislodge the ex-abbot, will the police next plan is to raze the compound. All I see is headless police chiefs running around making and announcing absurd plans. This will only escalate even to more dire consequences if the authorities help create a siege mentality with the temple faithfuls and followers.

Soon, Just need a little bit time to make a committee to find the guy that know the guy that is brother to the guy that knows how to operate the power switch....

Anytime now :cheesy:

Cut water and power...won't happen

Where would we be without a daily dose of this comedy show :partytime2:

It's highly probable there is quite some bottled water storage already in place, but it can't last forever.

Or perhaps an announcement from outside that certain batches of bottled water will destroy the karma already bought for a nice seat in heaven.

Using the word possibility!! They are really getting serious.

Even Monks are not immune to the purge...

Preliminary question:

...is he still in?

Do a medieval siege of the place, complete with trebuchet,

throwing dead animals infected with plague into the compound ,

or if they wait much longer the Abbot will just die of old age.

regards worgeordie

The longer they leave this, the harder it is going to be for them.

Won't be long before you get the blockade runners sacrificing themselves for the acclaim of being a martyr.

Because, through their actions/inaction's, that is exactly what the authorities are making every person in there. The more pressure they apply, the more resilient the occupiers will be.

Gonna end in really big tears.

Get some big.fans and some oiley rags ..that will get them out ...of course best to do this up wind ...?

I seem to recall the popo raiding the place this week to inspect their private (illegal?) water well.  All they need to worry about is how much diesel they have to run the backup genset.  Wouldn't surprise me if they long ago trenched a pipeline to a nearby PTT station to keep the diesel coming.

Doesn't it feel like everyone has been waiting since 1944?!

I read this morning that the police were allowed into the outer grounds of the temple where they were pictured checking an apparent illegal well. If that is the case cutting off the supply won't do much good if the temple has its own. Don't see that it matters because we know who is the boss here, don't we.
