airline pilots depression

Lots of people suffer from depression so why not airline pilots? A lot of pilots especially the low cost airline ones are under huge pressure to land, get everyone off fast , everyone on fast and depart. A friend who is a pilot of a well known Irish airline said he and everyone who works there "hates the airline with a vengeance" !  I am not surprised some get depressed.

yes but don't forget the article specifically mentioned not just depression but having suicidal thoughts.

  I think there are a handful of jobs where that person literally has the life of others  in their hands - and in this case hundreds of people at the time - who perhaps shouldn't be flying under such mental conditions.

maybe this is another argument for pilotless planes i.e. computers and robotics get viruses but don't have depression
