Since I entered Thailand 10 days ago, I have been staying in a local house. ( this was indicated on the arrival card ) I am changing to a hotel tomorrow, and does anyone know if I have to notify immigration or will the hotel do that? I have heard of people saying in Chaing Mai hotels have been raided and fines issued. thanks

Don't worry about it.

People switch accommodation frequently.  They will (probably) scan your passport when you check in.
