Hi Windhorse

Meaning  of tine harrows, do you mean like in  the 2 photos ,or do you mean  a set of chain harrows,  that would be used on grass land in the spring on European cattle farms , if you  mean  chain harrows ,something I would like myself ,but I have never seen  here in Thailand ,you would  have to buy  a set  some from someone like Alibaba.

If you mean like in the photos ,the harrows on the tractor we made  ourselves not difficult ,local  shops sold the steel  drilled the holes  ,wife's  nephew  did the welding ,at the time I did not have a welder .

The other set are at  our local machinery  dealer , looking at them I think they are meant to be for inter row weeding ,mainly in sugar cane ,but they could be  used for harrowing land  this set cost  16 000 baht .

Last year  subject of chain harrows  come up ,JVS  suggested   a tire harrow ,a look at Google ,cheap and not  difficult  to make ,if you are only doing a few  rie  , could be an idea.

200 rie  not a small amount of land ,I would say  the first thing  you would need is a sob soiler   Ron  posted a good photograph  of one last week  ,in the farming photograph  thread ,for 200 rie  you  would need one of these , would do the land a lot of good .

For harrows over in the maize thread  post #666   farmerjo  posted   a link to  Kamolindustry ,they have  a set of spring tines ,they say you need 80 hp to pull them , again  would do the land some good ,if I had a block  of land ,it is something  I would have .

HI Windhorse.

The  2 photos I took at a show in Bangkok .

They are made by  industriehof .com  ,in Germany ,here in Thailand ,they are sold by MecapartsInternational. com, in Bangkok .

The guy I spoke to  was a Farang ,he said  they are  just starting to sell , the industriehof product in Thailand , they are already selling  plough discs ,I said how much  for the coil tine ,he said expensive , depends on how well he sells them, I have seen a few on Thai fertilizer drills, subsoilers .

I thought ? buy some tines ,and get a local guy to make a  frame to mount them  on ,if your land is as bad as you say ,use a subsoiler ,then in with the coil  sp

Part 2 (hit the wrong  button ).

As I said use a subsoiler then in with the coil spring   cultivator , should open the land up a treat ,I would say on light land you should be able to pull 7 tines ,5 on heaver land .

200 rie ,around here that would be 6 farms ,I would say you would need something big and heavy , just to work the land ,and to open  all the land out , a 3 and 7 disc plough ,like I would say has been used in the past would not  do a lot of good ,it has been this method that has got the land in the state  it is in now ,plus lack of any organic matter ,lime, and  probably  P and K fertilizer .

All the best .
