Stupid comment from someone born knowing nothing and who will die also knowing nothing. Your best option seems to stop saying anything.

When someone comes from Netherlands or Colorado loaded with THC or any legal drug in his body, he has a lot to worry about even if he is not carrying anything !

Cannot stand all these stupid replies on this stupid forum anymore.

There have been bombs not a million miles away from here in the past year,  and so the full moon party in particular represents a pretty big security risk.  I'd rather get checked (just a quick pat down in my experience) than get blown to smithereens.

As if any thai "cop" would be able to know what is a bomb before it exploses even if it was in front of his eyes.

Yes tell the people living in countries where it is legal that they should not do it !

how ridiculous is this ! Would you stop drinking alcohol in other countries if it was illegal in thailand ?

Anything you might reply is plain stupid, I already know, so don't waste your time ! You do not see further than your nose like most people and then start crying like a little girl if any trouble happens to you.

There are some highly unintelligent responses here...

The legality of the drug in another country is of little relevance. IF you have the drug in your system in Thailand you are considered to have broken the law.

The simple solution - Do not partake if you know you are coming to Thailand.

Many people get drugs tested for their work (i.e. offshore guys), by partaking you risk your job.

It's not difficult, there are no tricks... having drugs in your system in Thailand is illegal.

So... Going to the Alcohol comment

Yes, you would have to quit drinking Alcohol in other countries for the length of time it would take to leave your system before arriving.

EcigAmateur: Would you arrive in Saudi pissed up ???

Exactly,,,, there's nothing more stupid than to take drugs on phangan ... I mean.. There's literally no worse place to do it in Thailand.. Way better to do it in  your hotel room in Chiang Mai or whatever,, at least then it's less likely you will get caught.. But to do it on Phangan is darwin awards level stupidity.

I confirm that I just have read one.

I guess that in your perfect life with wealthy educated people, even cops I noticed (the only not corrupted official of the whole country, right ?)  nobody does anything illegal, and you are so sure that thanks to your greatest education in the universe, your kids will never mess with dope....

Sorry, I quit dreaming long time ago, I let you enjoy your little cloud, but be careful as the fall can be painful...

Another genius know-all who really know nothing and keep speaking.

What is your personal experience ? You want I tell you how many dozens of friends I know who enjoy everything possible on ALL Thai islands every year ? So incredible that people keep speaking when they know absolutely nothing !

You just don't seem to comprehend common sense  ?   if you take illegal drugs in Thailand you risk being caught.

If you know your traveling to Thailand then you know not to consume any illegal drug in the prior couple of days to ensure it's not in your system.

now ....  how hard is that to understand.  :)     it's called knowing right from wrong ....

Given the stellar reputation of the BIB, and the myriad of docu-dramas that anyone considering a holiday in Thailand can pull up (like "Banged Up Overseas"), nobody can convince me there's nothing to worry about.  Never mind convincing a noobie tourist that pissing into a cup on holiday shouldn't dampen the spirit.

This may be Thailand, but they're catering to people from cultures where random piss tests are totally unacceptable.  If they want to to keep their money flowing in there needs to be some sensitivity to that.   Imagine a hotel that insists on rifling through their guests' luggage because they may be carrying drugs or weapons.  It may improve the security of the few guests who will be staying there after word gets out that your Viagra, KY Jelly, sex toys and condoms will be on display for all guests to see.  But they won't stay in business very long.

How hard is it to understand that you are just one more talking when you just know nothing ?

many substances stay in your system up to 2 months, so people would have to stop living their life just for a short vacation in Thailand ? RIDICULOUS.

And anyway who cares stupid laws when anybody can be bought so such a cheap price in this country ?! Not my friends ! And I am proud to be friends with people who have ballls unlike many.

Please submit a complaint through this form - https://www.tourismthailand.org/Send-Complaint - The Tourism board of Thailand takes complaints from tourists seriously and gets things solved (they solved one of my problems).

When filling out the form, send a link to this thread so they know that this is a major problem.

They might ask for a copy of your passport, don't worry.

Thanks for the information.

With your kind permission, allow me to add that once one files a formal complaint againt the corrupt coppers, you better have a good CCTV recording surveillance in your house and a some good dashcams in your car. If most cops are honest, (?)  I would definately not trust the rotten apples who would be inclined to take revenge.

If you consider having to stop taking drugs the equivalent of stopping your life, you have one seriously messed up life!

Proud to have friends who break the law - that's not "balls" or courage, that is plain stupidity!

Too right. Stupid, bigoted and ignorant. Many legitimate pain killers also register a false positive. Such behaviour by the police, given the state of Thai prisons is shameful.

How hard is it to stop taking recreational drugs and thus avoid having any substances in your system... forever?

Don't answer that.

Answer this though, if enforcement of the 'stupid laws' can easily be avoided by paying some 'cheap price', what's all this gurning about?

Toke on.

Guys, stop being so judgemental to each other. Everyone is making their own life choices. Let's just agree that some cops here are dicks and deserve backlash from the public.

TAT is in Bangkok and has more power and resources than local police. And local police + government authorities are afraid of Bangkok.

If people will send 5-10 complaints, things will change.

But I agree, If anyone can make some photos of roadblocks and send them to mainstream media outlets abroad that already covered problems on Koh Phangan, this can turn out to be a good story.

Yes its A bit like the UFO issue.

Many reports and people believe it and lots of B.S  but never even 1 real photo thats not fake or any proof.

U seem to know alot about what i know.

But you offer no counter point.

If i am wrong, then you should be able to tell me what is a worse place to take drugs in thailand. Im waiting.

Oh and your buddies will eventually get caught unless they already have..

I have some semi stupid friends that like to party on phangan, samui, koh tao every year, they've only got caught once so far.. On phangan ofcourse..

My personal experience? Ive been to said islands and I've seen the police presence looking for high tourists...

Also its a well known fact that police pay hundreds of thousands of baht to get stationed on those island because the "extort a tourist"-business there is so lucrative.

Ofcourse its nowhere near 100% that get caught... Otherwise nobody would go there... But its definitely the worst place to take drugs in thailand, except maybe inside a police station or airport 5555

"How hard is it to stop drinking and thus avoid having any substances in your system... forever?

Another useless comment by the criminal fraternity and their supporters.

It is difficult to explain to the intellectually challenged out there but I will try.

In simple words. Drinking alcohol here is legal. Taking drugs is illegal! In this sense, there is no correlation between the two.

No matter what people's opinions are - foreigners have NO say in the matter of the law. They should accept the laws or shut up.

In reply to the question - I am a regular partaker of alcohol and I have stopped drinking now and then. However, as it is legal and I enjoy it, I have no wish or need to stop forever. But this is irrelevant.

Back on topic. I fail to see why there is all of this fuss about something that the police in Thailand have every right to do. They have stop checks on Samui as well - but the foreigners here do not seem to mind. Perhaps it is because less of us Samuins are criminals. I have been stopped a number of times here on Samui and I am not frightened by that fact. If it takes a few more criminals off the street - go for it.

As an aside, we all know that the laws covering what can and cannot be written and put on the internet are very harsh here in Thailand. I am surprised that some people here are foolish enough to encourage crime via this medium!

Just wanted to clarify.

2 personal friends of mine were made to go through urine tests in the last week.

Girlfriend of a person I know was sniffed by a dog during a traffic stop. Happened on the mountain shortcut road between Police Station and Baan Tai.

Also. 1000 baht seems to be the "donation" for not doing the piss test.

Don't do drugs myself, but people around me do smoke weed. I will have to pay a 60.000 baht bribe or go to jail if stopped at such a raid because obviously the weed will be in my system.

Police love finding new amazing ways of extorting money from tourists.

Lol. How can weed be in your system if your friends smoked it? Bill Clinton had a higher risk with his statement that he smoked weed, but didn't inhale it.

You'll not be positive when people near you smoke pot.

Please, please, please don't remind him that prostitution is also illegal, and anyone wishing to participate shouldn't mind whipping out their willie for the police to check for recent illegal activity.  And if you haven't had any such illegal activity, whipping out your willie on cue shouldn't be a bother.  Just like peeing in a cup should only bother those with something to hide...

I'm always amused by the guys who are so adamant that others should obey the rules they agree with, and a little loosy goosy about the other, less convenient rules.

And here's a new CNN article that may blow a little hot air up some skirts.  Bottom line, regular dope smokers have more sex.
