PM: All govt. unit should prepare to create "Thai people 4.0"

BANGKOK, 2 January 2017 (NNT) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed all government units to urgently develop “Thai people 4.0” in preparation for the changing world. He suggested that they use technology to create jobs and propel the economy.

Government Spokesman Lt.Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd said in 2017 the government would focus on developing people for the “Thailand 4.0” policy that would move Thailand forward with innovation, knowledge and technology. The PM emphasized that the heart of the policy was to develop Thais to have more knowledge and higher skills with responsibility for the society, said the government spokesman.

Lt.Gen.Sansern stated further that the PM wanted Thai people to maintain their Thai characteristics while learning to use new technology. The PM therefore asked all units to adjust their plans for this year in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 policy, said the spokesman.

People in all sectors should know more about the Thailand 4.0 policy and Thai people 4.0 within six months from now, said Lt.Gen.Sansern.

According to the spokesman, Thai people 4.0 include “smart farmers,” “smart start-ups” high-value services and laborers with higher skills.

...but please do it without a free internet and a free press, so they don't get too smart...

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

Classic stuff, straight out of 1984! How about creating "Thai cyborgs" and "smart soldiers" whilst you're at it General.

Being able to listen and follow instuctions would  ( should ) be part of the PM s 4.0 plan  from my own experiences when trying to pass on skills,

"...The PM emphasized that the heart of the policy was to develop Thais to have more knowledge and higher skills with responsibility for the society..."

Ah, the good shepherd caring for his flock !!!

4.0 ? what happened to 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0? Oh how time passes so quick

when there're so many governments, bosses and laws that no one

really listen to....

What does "Thailand 4.0" actually mean?

they do realize that only about 0.01% of tech startups actually succeed right?

You're talking about farang startups. A Thai tech startup would be 100% success. Surely you realise that? How long have you lived here?

...  the PM wanted Thai people to maintain their Thai characteristics while learning to use new technology.

Unfortunately the insistence on the first will probably cause the failure of the second :shock1:

Prayuth obviously just read Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. The classic definition of a dystopian fascist state.

As a (Thai) commentator in the English-speaking press put it over the last few days "If you want a literate 4.0 population you'll have to change the education system to make them think for themselves" - and that ain't gonna happen

You mean you didn't notice the clear differences between the first three versions?

The little general censors media and plans to filter the Internet through a gov gateway and wants Thais to teach English to Thais. Did he mean 4.0 or 0.4?

The first three versions only used Internet Explorer so distinguishing between the versions meant the version of Microsoft Windows you were using - Vista, 7 or 8

Numbered OS is so old-fashioned......go Android and call it something catchy.....Thailand SomTam....followed by Thailand PlaRa......Thailand KhaiDao....and so on...:coffee1:

Its a special Thai program, it freezes often, directs you to other topic's, you don't need or  want,  printing jumps around as if a virus has installed itself and then when you check your online bank balance you discover that Thailand 4.0 is also a gaming site for Game over Zoos.................:cheesy:

If you have leaders & teachers as woefully inadequate as they working within a society riddled with corruption and an egotistical yet ignorant mindset of by far the majority, an apathy to learn even if therequired were the facilities and ideaology to support it - then I cannot for the life of me see any change for good happening. Thailand is on a permanent state of denial and lies to itself as much as it deceives and hides the reality to the rest of the world yet knows very well from what it sees in the rest of the world hiw to succeed. They don't need to look far - Singapore is a shining example yet Thais will never follow the ideas and creative thinking that creates success.

What 4.0? Thais have already reached 5.0 - everybody knows how to "play" Line and Facebook!!

"Lt.Gen.Sansern stated further that the PM wanted Thai people to maintain their Thai characteristics while learning to use new technology."

A statement that is absurd and makes one's flesh crawl.  People adapt quickly, governments do not.  How people evolve is up to them and they decide culture to men in uniform.

Those who have means are already way out in front.  The last tech initiative which comes to mind was with Microsoft, which is may enjoy desktop and game dominance but has lost: web server market, file server market, phone market.  Unless 4.0 has to do with games, Microsoft is not the best partner.   If Thailand was open and less draconian, 4.0 would happen naturally, without any need to government cheer leading.  Tech companies would expand in Thailand rather than flee screaming in the middle of the night.

So you're saying that your western media is free and smart, or just a propaganda media output to dumb people even further down the road?

(...) He suggested that they use technology to create jobs and propel the economy.
isn't it that the human factor is the critical weakness to be addressed today?

(...) developing people for the “Thailand 4.0”

brilliant, nice marketing. Anything behind?

(...) the PM wanted Thai people to maintain their Thai characteristics

Ah! back to the priorities: that Thainess that makes Thailand the greatest..

(...) People in all sectors should know more about the Thailand 4.0 policy and Thai people 4.0 within six months from now, said Lt.Gen.Sansern.

what about next week instead?

(...) According to the spokesman, Thai people 4.0 include “smart farmers,” “smart start-ups” high-value services and laborers with higher skills.

and if it works, then smart trees, smart air..

That is up to the people. They have the means at their disposal to follow up on stories and form their own opinions using the plethora of information out there. Thailand is going down the path of criminalising those who do so.

I wonder if they will encourage the population to......

Accept criticism without shooting each other in the face,

Admit when they are wrong without shooting each other in the face,

Accept education,

Accept that they have a lot to learn,

Learn to apologise sincerely,

Make police actually do their jobs without the need for bribes,

Do things in a straight forward way,

Stop ripping off tourists,

Stop assaulting tourists,

Stop the double standards,

Have a government that is not paranoid,

Encourage freedom of speech,

Maybe these will come with version 400.0

Maybe Thailand "see soon"?

Hello Mr. Prayut: you can't create people if you not give them a basic from where something can grow. The way Thailand is going now will give to the people who not only want to lay down, play their mobiles and have no idea and no interest in anything then sanuk sanuk, if you not open their minds by letting them grow their experiance by using the modern standard equipments and contents of what the world is saying and offering.

closed minded never get the 4.0 standard that you wish to get (whatever that should be)

but as it's just a slogan and nothing behind it's anyway good for nothing ...

reminds me soooo very much on all the slogans i experianced in my work time in comunist countries.....

And Thailand is walking along the same path now!

I think the PM has been watching too much Westworld.  Lets reboot everyone with new software.  Remove the bugs LOL

After the successful indoctrination in Kindergarten they go one step further by "creating" people. Does that mean a ban on contraceptives for Isan teenagers?

Now they even copy from their own. A certain professor, Pramote Prasartful, of Mahidol University in Bangkok, has easily taken a hand in the selection of his reading from the bookshelf. His suggestion in 2011: the government should provide incentives for Thailand's women to produce "quality babies" instead of masses.
