Officials dismiss ‘old rumour’, say no HIV in Thai canned food

By THE SUNDAY NATION

THE Disease Control Department (DCD) has dismissed rumours that canned food made in Thailand is tainted with HIV.

“It’s not true,” DCD director general Jessada Chokdamrongsuk said in response to a rumour, started on social media, that canned food made in the Kingdom was contaminated with the virus.

Jessada said his department had already looked into the matter and found the rumour was groundless. “There is no credible evidence to substantiate the claim about HIV contamination. In addition, we have found that this rumour was circulated on social media during 2013 and 2014 too. And lately, it has resurfaced again,” he said.

The virus does on exposure to air. Probably dies at the heat of canning also.

Canned Aids.....

A virus is not alive in any sense

The HIV cannot exist in canned food.

Most of the people don't know nothing about HIV. It's a shame.

Just ate a canned mackerel in tomato sauce. Yummy!

Do I......................... agree with the Thai authorities?

Now that's funny!  Typical of this ignorant society.

The ops is done...

another opportunity for being a hub is lost and gone

my cat ate some Thai canned tuna and turned into a zombie cat, does that count?

Ridiculous rumour.  If HIV was transmittable in such a way, a large percentage of the world population would be infected.  Once outside the body, it cannot survive, hence quite difficult to catch outside of body to body contacts with bodily fluids.

Yh but this is great news for the plastic and glass container industry. Imagine the sales calls.

This is just too funny. You can bet the head of the Disease Control Department did actually have to research into this to find out if it was possible. Land of Muppets.

Good grief!  You're living in a tropical country where you can get fresh food all year long.

Why on earth eat canned food?  Are you pirates on a Transatlantic boat ride? ?

Do you serious think restaurants don't use canned food?

No, just people that like a variation in a daily food intake. Who knows? You should try it! Might actually like it.

This amazes me that anybody is uneducated or stupid enough to even think this is possible
